Yes, on my first playthrough of Homecoming, I just did the wire puzzles with trial and error, so I hated those puzzles. Because trial and error aren't fun. :P

Anyways, after I talked to a friend that recently had played homecoming, he said you could see something that shows you how to connect them. Like in the prison wire puzzle, something where it said XXI, on how to connect the wires.

So I tried Homecoming again, and I coundn't find anywhere where it said that.

So, did he just blow smoke up my arse, or is there anywhere in the game that actually shows you how to connect the wires?

I don't think so 'cause I never saw such a thing as well.

Speaking about wires. . . to connect'em properly I just do the following:

Connect wire, then pull that lever. If the first light gets bright I plug the 2nd wire and repeat the process, and so on.

Although on my 1st playtrough I kinda missed this point. And had many errors too.

The first wire puzzle has a note in the alley that gives you the setup. I'm not aware of anything for the prison's however.

That XXI memo was right next to the first wire puzzle on trashbins. It's talking about football or something. I could never understand what it meant, but it's one of the few memos that shows up in your journal.

[EDIT] The memo on the dumpster next to the Grand Hotel wire puzzle reads:

Don't forget to tape the big game!
XXI

Wow, I missed this memo within 5 playtroughs. Damn, I'm surprised.

IF you cant figure it out:
http://www.gamefaqs.com
But i believe its color coded. Just look at the puzzle clsoely and youll see the colors in which the matching wire goes to.

I, personally, loved the Homecoming puzzles :) Especially the one in Alex's Otherworld House.

I don't know what prison memo people are talking about, but it might be here:
http://silenthill.wikia.com/wiki/Overlo ... iary_Memos

You might mean this one that goes to one of the locks in the prison, but it doesn't go to a wire puzzle:
If anyone finds this note, I can help you
access the gateway to your freedom. But to
escape your fate, you must first visit
solitary confinement prisoner number
