"Deathbed" was pretty much accurate. It represents the bed that Mary died on.
I'm not dead yet, dammit.

She takes the pose of a martyr on a cross, with the head of a virgin Mary, and the physical form of a dead patient on a deathbed she cannot detach herself from.

And seriously, Disciple of Claudia
...Silent Hill fans aren't generally the type who go around discussing "racks" on women. This place is for intelligent conversation, man, can't you just take it somewhere else?

This is why they committed suicide:

James created the PHs to torture himself, and in that moment he started to fight back (mentally). The physical weapons did no harm to them, it was James's mind which undone those.
An illusion was all i had,
Now turned against myself.

He didn't exactly create them.

They were more automatic than that.

Like I've said in other threads, he come to the town to commit suicide, but was not ready. His desire for suicide manifested those beings to carry out the process for him. That's why when he gets the knife from Angela, Pyramid Head gains the great knife. James thinks of killing himself with it secretly, but won't, while Pyramid Head also recieves those signals, and tries to kill James with the great knife. It's all the same thing.

It's easier to die as a victim of another than a victim of yourself.

There were two Pyramid Heads after James kills Eddie.

By this time, you should be carrying the great knife. It's the shift in burden.
Pyramid Heads begin to carry spears(the lighter burden), while James assumes the Great Knife(Heavy burden), when he comes closer to accepting the truth, and more and more willing to consider suicide as it nears the end of the game.

Nice theory, even if I disagree with the basic sentiment, the whole suicide part.

One thing to consider is that Pyramid Head's toting a spear quite some time before you find the Great Knife, specificially, at the Hospital.

Only in the basement. The red pyramid thing on the roof has the great knife.

Then the alternating between the spear and knife for PH could represent James' emotions.

Note when he reads the diary on the roof, which is reflective of his sadness and Mary's, PH appears with the giant knife and tries to take him out.

It's just James coming closer to accepting suicide...

The whole reason he come to the town was for suicide. The theme is much stronger than most of you wanna give it credit.

it needs to be explored more.

I can't give it much credit. It's stupid to go through all that for the express purpose of killing one's self. If suicide was the idea, it could have happened at any moment James wanted it to. He had guns, he had a knife, he had plenty of monsters and no shortage of high places to jump from.

All the thematic elements in the world don't make it sound any less ridiculous.

I wished we'd gotten the spear instead of the knife. The spear is a better weapon.

I don't think you get it at all.

A person can want to die and still fear suicide.

Besides, it's confirmed that he come to Silent Hill to commit suicide in the lake.
I don't care what anyone says, that's fact.

Do tell, Nancy? Well, you have a secret source of information no one else in the world is privy to, apparently.

I'm jealous now.

Just an unimportant sidenote: That weapon isn't exactly a spear (you throw that), but more a lance.

Praytell, share with us this glorious gem of information you have been bestowed, because as far as I know, the game only confirms that he went there to find his wife. James only says it a billion times to himself, to Angela, and Maria, not to mention all the times he addresses his thoughts to her and says her name aloud very much like people do with God.
I'm not dead yet, dammit.

I agree, actually...

...yeah...got it the first time.

Anywho...I'm not getting this topic a whole lot. The worst part of SH2....the penultimate scene of the game? The most emotioinally powerful, difficult, and energetic battle of the game? Come on! If anything, the worst part has to be the boat ride. So monotonous, so boring...no monsters in the water. Pity.

Worst part of the game for me was the beginning.
Though intentional, it dragged on and had a slow start...
It was hard to get into the game because of it.

I don't ever use the great knife except for maybe the finalbattle with the two PH:s, so I think the great knife is a kinda good thing, because it's a fun weapon. I'm already full on practical weapons so a nice fun weapon is a nice add.

I love to go around being scary like PH :-D
