If I remember correctly it was only after the video tape, I'm glad I didn't figure it out at the beginning when the radio says pretty clearly "why did you kill me"

How did you come to that conclusion? I've heard (and read the subtitles to) that radio thing at least a dozen times, half of those times with headphones, and I've never heard her say "why did you kill me"

:?:

Listen closely when James first listens to the radio after picking it up. You can distinctly hear Mary say it. In fact, it's all I can hear now, during that scene, and it's something of a bummer.

During the game, she cuts off at "did you k——." However, in an early trailer, you can hear what she says more clearly.

In my version she really says all of it "why did you kill me" but the subtitles are "....did you k..." or something

Shoot, I'm playing as soon as night falls so I can listen to that...
And I didn't figure it out till after the tape. My head is incredibly thick when it comes to stuff like that...

You're gonna laugh but... after beating the game I still wasn't sure what the hell was going on while I played it... I checked the plot walkthrough on gamefaqs after beating it...

It does say that if you listen carefully but on my first run-through I wasn't paying too uch attention to it. I also thought it could have been saying "Why did you leave me?" But after seeing the end the "Why did you kill me?" sounds more logical.

To SH3girl32: He probably felt both ways about her and what he did.

I realized sometime in the hotel. I'm pretty sure it was after the video tape but I'm not sure! It's been so long! I remember playing late at night and I felt sick with James' guilt after the video. God, I love these games.

I knew it from the start.
There was a show about important video games on TV and there they talked about James background. That sounded interesting enough to start playing Silent Hill games, so I'm not really mad about this spoiler. At least they didn't show any of the real endings. ;)

When I first saw the game, I didn't think game stories went much beyond either "go save the princess" or "kill everything." Didn't think they could get that emotionally involving. In other words, didn't get it until after the tape, but to be fair, as far as I was concerned, James killing his wife was as unthinkable as finding Peach as a half-eaten corpse.

I compulsively thought that James cheated on Mary and divorced (according to Angela's very off statement), but I only realized after the video tape.

I knew next to nothing about James from the beginning, but he seemed like a very genuine and trustworthy person. I figured that he was purely the victim, and nothing else. When I found out he killed Mary, I was shocked, and this was after the videotape. However I did have my suspicions with Maria--she seemed very surreal.

After the videotape. Wasn't really in shock because I had an inkling that there was a hint of foul play going on. I was convinced James was a bit of a nutter when the text in Mary's letter started disappearing.

Only after the video tape. I had read some things about this game beforehand. I don't remember why or if I was deliberately looking for information or just accidentally stumbled upon it. I remember that it technically spoiled at least one thing (though it was confusing to me at the time so that really didn't matter TOO much in the end), but it thankfully wasn't that tidbit. I was genuinely shocked at that scene, and I'll never forget it. :)
