My goodness. You'd think in this day and age the avatar size would be reduced automatically to 100x100 regardless of it's size.

Anyway, I turned off the radio for a little while last night and it's okay I suppose. Has a slightly different vibe to it but not as scary. I couldn't take the silence for more than fifteen minutes before turning it back on. While that little transistor puts you on edge, it really saves your ass too.

To tell the truth, I've played the games so many times I don't even notice the radio any more.

Seriously, I'm starting to think that some members on here are ten years old. I mean, it isn't at all important, but the grammar of some users (not pointing names) is starting to bug me. Especially with all of the 'lol's'

Anyways, I, too, have gotten so used to the radio that I don't even recognize the sound.

^He's not 10 years old, he's 14 nearly 15, sort it out.

I'm not sure if I have posted in this thread yet but I will say that the radio, accompanied by the camera angles, makes the game scarier as you can hear the enemy (radio) but you can't see it/them (shocking camera angles).

Simon, this c**t was banned time ago.

Oh, my god, I said the word 'c**t'. Crikey I need my mouth washed out with soap and water.

Thanks. I just looked at his recent conversation in which he gave himself up to the mods.

I couldn't help but LOL at the whole thing

You should try to turn off the radio and the flashlight. :)

The flashlight really depends on the game. In Homecoming you might as well switch it off as doesn't really do crap anyways.

In the PS2 version of Origins, if I turn off the flashlight, I may as well just be running around in pitch black, because that's what happens. Maybe my TV is just getting too old and decrepit. It is a CRT, after all... On it's highest brightness level.

I digress, though... since this is about '2.

I think it's scarier with the radio on. Particularly when walk along the roads. With the thick fog, it's pretty difficult to see any moster until it's like a few feet from you. However, you can hear the radio going off, so you know that something is out there, somewhere.

Also, the game sometimes screws with you using the radio. To add to the prison monster example, there were a couple this happen in SH3. In rundown apartment building (the one before the office building) you could sometimes hear footsteps but the radio didn't go off. So you had to wonder which sound should you trust more.

Also, when Vateil (sp?) was having "fun" with a nurse, the radio went off. Making you think there was danger, when there really wasn't any.

I'd have to say without. You never know when a monster's nearby and therefore you'll be scared because you're not expecting it.

Although, on the other hand, with the radio on it's scary too. My heart always beats faster when I hear a blast of white noise.

I'd say it's scarier with the radio off, because it's much more of a jolting scare than with the radio on, and i'm a wimp when it comes to jumpscares.

I think its scarier with the radio aswell , Cause it gives you that sense of fear not know where the enemy is , but then again you almost always see the enemies seconds after the radio goes off , Its tough but in the long run i'd have to say leave the radio on for the best fear and experience in the game. If you want try turning it off once you get outside :P

The radio does not Detect the mannequins, until yer face to face with them!
so in the apartments, this can be an excellent scare >=)

On ofcourse, besides addas a great deal of atmosphere upon seeing PH

I turn the radio off in every SH game right off the start. Always found it annoying for some reason.

I prefer just hearing the ambience of the game and the sound of the monsters. I find it creepier.
