I always considered that PH, constantly murdering Maria, represented James murdering Mary. But never really a symbol of sexual frustration.

It does bear reminding, especially in this community , that symbolism can be taken too far. Before long, guns are penises, swords are penises, knives and spears and cars are penises. Eventually, every object -- including you! -- can be a penis, and everything that isn't an object is a vagina. Before long, the act of walking through a door symbolizes sexual penetration.

I don't get why this issue is still so big. It's obvious she was sexually abused. She states it right in front of James. It's not that hard to figure out.
