Which ending was the REAL ending?

Post by WelcomeToNowhere »

Konami never specified an ending for Silent hill 2. What ending do you think was the real one, and why so?

I think that James drove his car into the lake, killing himself. <-- In Water ending
In SH4, Frank looked really sad about everything. Mourning his son, perhaps? or am I wrong?

A similar thread regarding that same question perhaps:

And I bet there's other threads like this somewhere else as well.

Personally, I believe In Water to be the real ending. That or Rebirth.
I have a Youtube account where I sometimes post SH related videos. www.youtube.com/user/severeth

Aside from the two joke endings, they're all equally canonical by Word of God.

SH4 is completely irrelevant, since all four endings can, and probably would, lead to James cutting off contact with his father.

Ryan's First Law of Silent Hill Fandom: If someone asks "which Silent Hill 2 ending is real?", they will always follow by suggesting themselves that it is "In Water".

Corollary to Ryan's First Law of Silent Hill Fandom: Something in Silent Hill 4: The Room will almost certainly be used in an attempt to justify the First Law.

I think, if not the In Water ending, that it's the DOG ending. Hey, it could happen! A devious manipulating Shiba Inu makes about as much sense as Maria dying, like, 5 times.

^ Actually it doesn't. Maria dying a lot of times has a meaning. The Dog doesn't have any as far as I'm concerned.

Besides, Maria doesn't actually exist. Mira is totally real, and so she doesn't make sense. I mean, she's too busy being Cheryl, right?

Mira is the dog ( a chow chow?) in the dog ending.
Lets see. There is water in the apartment, where james " fights" PH. Theres water in the labryinth. And there's water in the hotel. And he crosses water for a good while to get to the hotel.
This is for the Water Ending.
There are a good amount of items for the rebirth ending, and also a number of memos that talk of the ritual. This is for the Rebirth Ending. ( james also says" the old gods havent left this place". perhaps a prelude to the true ending?)
I have to play through the game again. Dont know about the other endings

Oh, dude, Mira the doggy isn't a chow-chow, it's a japanese Shiba Inu, which is why in the dog ending all you hear is Japanese!

We can cancel out the dog and UFO endings.
If you notice, Phead seems aquatic as hes seen in water at times.
His webbed fingers resemble ducks webbed toes.
Im gonna watch the other endings on youtube to varify.

^What Pyramid's anatomy haves to do with an actual ending? His main "duty" is to represent James and show him the truth, that is all. It's not likely he is the monster that predicts the "In Water" ending. . . Though their (The both Pyramid's) suicides are questionable.

Then his duck hands mean nothing? And the water in the apartment and hotel?
Its like saying the wet shoe marks josh makes in SH5 have no meaning.

^ Why you're bringing the environments and all the other places that we visit in the discussion of Pyramid's anatomy?

And if you're talking about the foot prints in Alex's house, well, they aren't Josh's footprints. They're Lillian's.

Not in the house. In other places of the game.
anyways:
Water:- Talks to mary in bed. Room is lit. She forgives james.
James puts mary in car, drives into water and dies.

Leave:-Talks to mary in bed. Room is very dark. She forgives him, and tells him that she wants him to move on with his life.
James follows laura through cemetery, and turns right, then disappears.

Maria:- Talks to mary in bed. Shes in Nowhere Hotel ( where he fights her)
Doesn't forgive james.
James admits to creating maria in place of mary.
Is at rosewater park, and is joined by maria.

Rebirth:-Takes mary in boat to church on an island.

Pyramid Head never ACTUALLY committed suicide, because Pyramid Head is both the physical manifestation of James' repressed rage and rape-y sexuality, and also (so I've heard) the Red God, Xuchilbarra. Besides, if we keep henpecking over details like PH's decidedly mitteny-ducklike-webbed hands, this'll all devolve into the Lee Harvey Oswald vs. the Grassy Knoll shooter argument all over again, ya know? So, what do we know FOR SURE?

There's a whole thread on his sexual views. He's also not the Red God, Xuchilbarra, as I believe-I'll be happy to point you in the right direction.

If this pointless discussion goes on, then it will evolve into what you stated :P

Back on topic, In Water seems most probable, though it is left up to the player's imagination.

Q41: Which of these does Pyramid Head represent in James Sunderland

a. rage
b. rapey-sexuality
c. The Red God, Xuchilbara
d. none of the above ←
