Just picked up the game for XBOX and can't wait to play it. I was looking throughout the options and couldn't find anything that would crop the image to fit a 50-inch LCD. I guessing the image would just look distorted anyway? Right now I have the black bars along the sides. It still looks awesome (Love the grain that the HD version was criminally stripped of!) but if there's a way to set the aspect ratio better, i'd like to know.
Thanks!
Also, first post. I've played Silent Hill 3 in the past. Loved the imagery, but could never get into it on a narrative level. I watched a Lets Play (without Commentary) of 2 the other day and was blown away. I wish I had initially played it first before watching, but I'm playing through now.

I don't think any of the ps2/xbox era sh games were made in widescreen, so the only thing you could do is get your tv to stretch the image to fill the screen, but as you say, this would distort the image.
Personally, I would play with the borders.
Also if you could manage to get a hold of the original ps1 game, (sh3 follows on directly from it) then that might improve sh3 for you.

Yeah, I figured it would just looked stretched and ugly. I already started playing and i'm at the hospital. The black bars don't bother me at all really.Seal of Megatron wrote:I don't think any of the ps2/xbox era sh games were made in widescreen, so the only thing you could do is get your tv to stretch the image to fill the screen, but as you say, this would distort the image.

I will try to get ahold of the PS1 game. I always didn't really enjoy the story of SH3, but looking back on it, it's probably because I never played the original game.

I never particularly cared for the story of 3 either, despite having played the first game. It's still well worth playing the original though, in some ways I think it's one of the best.
