Does Maria Ever Stay Alive W/ the Pyramid Head?

ok well this sounds stupid but i really was wondering....in other silent hill games when characters die you get different endings..so im working on getting all ending for silent hill 2 and after trying over and over and looking up walkthroughs online...maria always dies when shes following james and being chased by the pyramid head in the basement of the hospital?? i know that she dies but i just wondered if thats the only option? cuz one walkthough i read for a certain ending was saying "be nice to maria".....i know it was a crappy walkthrough but i figured that meant not letting her die so idk, i tried many times to try to get her in the elevator but none worked, so ive come to conclusion that maria has nothing to do with different endings??? sorry i know this sounds dumb but im confused on how to get the other endings...ive already got REBIRTH and IN THE WATER endings...so maybe someone could tell me how to get the other three (just the basics on how to) cuz the walkthroughs werent that helpful (obviousy) thanx so much!!<3<3<3

Maria can't be saved, regardless of what you do. 'Be nice to Maria' basically means stick to her side, don't let her get beat up by the monsters, visit her in the hospital after you've left her on the 3rd floor and go back into her cell in the labyrinth after the cut-scene...think that's about it!

There's probably more, this was just off the top of my head

There is no way for you to help Maria in the basement of the hospital. You are meant to enter the elevator alone.

When they say 'be nice to Maria' they mean spend as much time as possible with her, and when she's sick in the hospital room, see her as many times as you can.

And someone will probably move this thread to the help section, or close it down.

You don't have to be nice to Maria to get the MARIA ending. I got it simply by rushing to the end of the game and ignoring all the extra crap. Don't collect the rebirth items, don't read the diary on the roof of the hospital, don't listen to the headphones in the reading room of the otherworld Hotel, and don't listen to the voices in the hallway on the way to the last boss.

If you go to fight the last boss and she's sitting on the bed (as opposed to leaning on the windowsill) then you know you got the Maria ending coming before you even beat the game.

Ok, yea maria dies in the basement and yes that is you only option but (and i'm assuming you already know this) she meets back up with you later

depending on your belief of the prison cell in the abyss or the labrynth talk it could either be maria or mary since we never really see Mary wearing those clothes or being in a long hallway with James I have assumed that it is Maria

However that is only my opinion but you don't really need to be nice to Maria in the game if you run fast enough stuff shouldn't hurt her at all and thus you skip all the crap obtaining the maria ending

The long hallway is referring to the hospital basement chase from Pyramid Head.

The only way I can think for save Maria is kill James and donm't play SH 2 again... You also could try have a couple life at the hospital. the BubbÃ±leHead nurses can be a good source of vitamins...
