Have Team Silent ever shed some light on SH's many meanings?

Post by Wyre »

I mean, it's great we're all delving deep into everything with the series, and with SH2 especially, and coming up with some really awesome results, but have the actual makers of the game themselves ever said anything about the relevance of all the weird stuff in SH2?

I haven't seen anything, but then again, I'm not much of a looker.

However, I do enjoy reading the theories when it comes to Silent Hill 2. I especially like Alone in the Town's.

Well, they did in the Lost Memories book. You can find some explanations in there coming from the Silent Team.

Don't be so hard on yourself, you're a handsome guy!

I think it'd be funny if someone asked and they just said "...it's just a game."

Um...anyway, Lost Memories...buy it.

They explain quite a lot in there, more so about Silent Hill 3 than the others.

There are times we try to find something that's not there.
I'm sure there's many hidden meanings, but at the same time there is no meaning and we try and find one... I guess that's all the fun.

Team Silent had shed light everytime they made a game. People are mostly familiar with the Silent Hill Chronicle because someone took the time to translate it. There are other books out there that no-one has ever translated. For example, the fact that the term "Mark of Samael" was gibberish was already stated in a guidebook for the original Silent Hill years before Silent Hill 3 came out. Now, sometimes people assume that Team Silent changed some things to "fit," but the truth is that they have no idea...

I've got SH2 edition which includes the DVD making of, and that's quite interesting, but only covers SH2. Obviously... :D But thanks for the link, will be interesting to see what that's all about.

Hi folks. Just been reading some of the posts here and was wondering if anyone could tell me where I'd be able to buy a copy of the Lost Memories book in the UK?
The link that Drakan90 (awesome tagline by the way Drakan!) posted has really whet my appetite and I'd love to own a copy.

Is the Lost Memories expensive? I'm just wondering if I should get Lost Memories or the Silent Hill Sounds Box?

Mod Edit:

Please don't revive a thread that has been gone for seven years just to ask a question to someone who is no longer posting on the site. It's just futile. Google, Ebay, and Amazon are great places to search for the items you're wondering about instead of bumping a lost thread. Please keep this in mind in the future.

Thanks,

^^^ At least they used the search function instead of making a new thread.

The Book isn't too expensive, I bought one on Ebay in 2011 for about $40.00 in great condition.

The Translated Memories site is priceless and contains about as much as "Team Silent" has said about their interpretations when creating the first few games. Just like musicians, the meaning of something is different for everyone and ambiguity only adds to more discussion, more promotion, and more visits to SH discussion boards :)

One step someone may take is emailing Masahiro Itō (designer from "Team Silent") and see if he will converse? He updates his site frequently and may be friendly with the fans:
