When Harry met Kaufmann 1st time, relation to SH Origins
I just heard their dialogue again when I replayed SH1, and I just noticed that Kaufmann's dialogue was a bit...off, when thinking about SH Origins, and the fact that he existed almost two decades ago (or something) before SH1.
Kaufmann stated that when he woke up, Silent Hill was just like that, along with those monsters. So which is which?
A. Kaufmann is telling the truth that "it was just like that" when he woke up, but he still knows why it happened. That means, Kaufmann in SH Origins is kinda retconned, or the other way around, because obviously he knows that shit has been happening in that town for years.
B. Kaufmann is BS'ing Harry and pretends that he is a noob to what's happening. But the way he tells it is like what I wrote above, that he sounds like he's telling the truth that he's just seen monsters for the first time.
When you listen to their dialogue and think of letter B, it's kinda off.
I can't think of how to write this stuff clearly, so I apologize if I sound a bit ignorant or something.. Was it just bad english on the first game or something?

No, he doesn't. There's nothing to indicate that he does, either. Nothing has been retcon'd regarding Michael's character because he wasn't drawn into the [otherside] like he was in Silent Hill 1.

. . . AND THAT'S THAT.
. . . AND THAT'S THAT.
The only one being drawn into the other side is Travis it seems in Origins. Kaufman in this installment is still young... and the curse that Alesssa eventually puts on the town hasn't happened yet really... til Well you know.. and for those who have not played this game.. toward the end you'll find out what makes the town go ape shit.
But to me in Sh1.. Kaufman acknowledges those monsters.. because yes he's just now seeing them for the first time. In Origins, all he was doing was trying to get Alessa to birth their god.. and was keeping her kidden. And in Sh 1.. it seemed as if possibly Kaufman was already dead, a memory of himself walking around the town.

The only way for evil to continue, is for good men to do nothing!!!!

Oh, so Kaufmann in Origins never even met any monsters or weird stuff until SH1? It's a little hard to believe, especially with all his time in SH before SH1, but it's ok I guess, I'll swallow the possibility.
But I get a funny feeling Kaufmann isn't innocent.. He was in the antique store when Travis whooped some Flauros ass after all, and the place wasn't normal.

Well, it's not like the bad crazy shit went down on a massive scale during SH0--it just seemed to extend to Travis personally and excluded everyone else. So Kaufmann not seeing or experiencing the weirdness isn't totally out of place because neither did Lisa or Dahlia (throughout the game, anyway).SymboliC wrote:Oh, so Kaufmann in Origins never even met any monsters or weird stuff until SH1? I kind of see it this way: Alessa tested out the demo of her world on Travis, was pleased with the results, and when she could manage power levels of over 9000 she then expanded it to random, innocent bystanders and guilty as sin people.
I'm not dead yet, dammit.

I'm sorry, this has been bugging me: Can you please stop saying Alessa cursed the town? She's not responsible for it's power or it's mental rape of people who enter it's borders. The only one being drawn into the other side is Travis it seems in Origins. That's why I specified throughout the game--that's near the end, so. It's not throughout.Video Gamer wrote:What about the scene near the end whereKrist. wrote:Well, it's not like the bad crazy shit went down on a massive scale during SH0--it just seemed to extend to Travis personally and excluded everyone else. He was in the Other Church, yes, the Flauros battle occurred in an area outside of time and space. Basically: It occurred w/in the Flauros artifact. Kaufmann saw the destruction afterward--which is why he ran--but he never saw Flauros the demon nor any of the monsters beforehand.

goes into the room where Lisa and Dr. K were screwing each other? Instead of freaking out like any normal people would, they acted like he could have shown up there normally, and even expected it, to an extent.

Well, if they weren't cracked out of their minds, wouldn't it be fishy to have a trucker pop up in your hotel bathroom...? I mean, c'mon...They didn't even act slightly surprised to see him, and they sure didn't act all "cracked out of their minds." If they were, I think the developers would've made that a little more clear.Krist. wrote:I don't see how that has anything to do with.. anything. Lisa and Kaufmann boning each other /=/ messed up Otherside monsters from hell demonic crazy stuff all over the place. Plus, they were probably cracked out of their minds.

And I agree. They werent all completely whacked or "cracked", but clearly werent in the right state of mind... actually I dont know, did Kauffman use the drug too? or just Lisa?

Plus, I don't think that if they WERE crack, that they would have been able to leave right there. And also: Why did Dr. K want Lisa to meet him in the sanitarium?Shoot The Sky wrote:Video Gamer wrote:Yeah, why is it that they didnt seem suprised? could they have been expecting him? wait no...
