PS2? PSP?

Post by Morbid.Marionette »

Hay guy's!

I was wondering is there a difference between SH:O for the PS2 and the SH:O for the PSP? (Besides the graphics.)
Also, are there two strategy guides for Origins or is there only the one for the PSP.

(Sorry if this has been brought up/in the wrong thread)

I can't really comment 'cause i don't have a PSP, but the PS2 version was fine for me, and the glitches were barely noticable. Saying that i consider Origins the worst of the series.

Just out of morbid curiosity:
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
In your game when Travis is wearing Vincents costume, are is eye missing? Because they're missing in my game, and when they are there there's no "skin" over/around them, so it looks like he's staring at you.
It's freaky.

The graphics shouldn't differ all that much, as PS2 graphics are based on hardware which came out in 2001. Therefore the PSP can *almost* do what the PS2 does in terms of graphics.

The game itself isn't as long as the others I've played, but on a portable system it works fine provided you play with headphones on and in a quiet, dark surrounding.

I've never heard of this! Some screen shots would definitely be appreciated!

I liked the PSP version better.
I have both versions and I found the one one the PS2 version to be full of glitches.
Just like you mentioned before one of them is the no eyes Vincent costume that doesn't happen on the PSP version.

I've never played the PSP version, and I didn't encounter any glitches in my PS2 version. But other people have, so I'm not sure what's really going on there.

Different copies of the ps2 version may have different glitches, or not glitches at all. My ps2 version has the glitch with the music stopping after one play through..of course this didnt really bother me all that much.

I liked the psp version, however I don't like tiny little screens, even when it does make it a slight bit more personal. It's nicer to have it on the big screen.. so my gf can watch the game while I play it for her.

Origins was a solid game, no matter how many glitches it had in it. I mean afterall when it was ported they only spent about 4 months porting it, which in my opinion wasn't long enough to ensure that all glitches were worked out of it.

So naturally there are going to be glitches, when something like this is ported so quickly.

I rather PSP version, the human characters look better there... The mosnters are better in the PS2 version but I found that sometimes to stomp and finish them is a pain in the ass... Also the save process is really annoying in the PS2 version...

If you have the PSP-2000 model then you can hook your PSP up to an HDTV with component cables and play it at 480p resolution and dimensions.

I prefered the PSP version. I have both and the PS2 version looks wrong. I mean, the character models have been updated but they look strange, and the controls are even more chunky.

I have the ps2 and mine is fine the only problems are the shading from the real time lighting, ie shadows being flickery. Which naturally occurs in a lot of games anyways even next gen titles. The only real bug is the reload problem in the pause menu, replacing the gun you reloaded with the picture of the gun to the right of it.

Perhaps there were more glitches in the PAL release since I have not run into any that people keep mentioning.

My version does not have the missing eyes on the Vincent costume.

About the Vincent costume....the eyes aren't missing.....for some reason the texture for his glasses are made of a square with the circle in the middle...and the square isn't transparent like it should be....however once I had finished the Hospital section, the glasses and eyes looked fine during and after the cutscene with Lisa.

Defiantly the PSP verison.
I bought this on the day that it came out!
I was stupid to sell it to one of my friends though.
Then I bought the PS2 version since wearing my glasses to see the PSP hurts alot since i'm farsighted. I liked that I can see the graphics more better, but the glitches seriously ran me up the wall! I lost so much due to them.

psp definitely. i have both versions and find it takes away from the experience when you encounter the bugs in the ps2 version. i also found it very difficult to save, as it takes forever to read the memory card

PSP, only because I don't see too much of a difference between the two versions. Also, having the PSP version makes you feel better for spending all the money to buy the handheld.
