Resident Evil 4 sampling in the music?

Post by Xigz »

The Resident Evil 4 song "Serenity" seems to appear in at least 2 of Silent Hill Origins' pieces of music. Specifically, Battle Drums and Bittersweet.

Am I just hearing things, or did/does anyone else notice this similarity?

I'd post YouTube links, but I'm unsure if that's allowed.

serenity resident evil 4, or at least what I found,

 I see what you mean. I'm guessing it was from another sample pack floating around somewhere. Nice share ^_^

Since he criticize Resident Evil of being "too conventional", it would be a major blow if he did...

Guys, I've LONG realized this and wondered why as well. I figured it out. Being a composer myself, I have tons of samples, loops, etc. The song heard from RE4, Serenity and heard in SH:0, is actually a sample/loop from a loop pack called Pandora's Toolbox, produced and created by David Torn.

The sample/loop that is being played is actually called '29 - To Burble & Pine.' I have found that Akira Yamaoka uses LOTS of samples. (Being a pyscho crazy fan of Yamaoka's work :D ) I have found more samples he has used in SH 2, 3, and 4. Yeah. I'm crazy.

I've posted quite a few sample/loops used by Akira Yamaoka here: http://www.silenthillforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=16347

(unfortunately the download links are currently dead)

But yes, he uses A LOT of pre-made, royalty free loops (particularly for the SH3-Homecoming OSTs).

Hmm, I find Resident Evil themes and Silent Hill themes both taking a leaf out of each others' books. As far as the piano songs go, anyway.
I have a Youtube account where I sometimes post SH related videos. www.youtube.com/user/severeth

Nice find, satisfied my curiosity.

I've never really noticed any samples before, but now that I listen around, I guess I do.
