Wow. I suck at this game now.

I remember when I bought the UMD for my PSP 1000 the day Origins came out, I breezed through the game using only guns and my fists.
I revisited this game digitally on my Vita and, shit, I suck now. I'm at the sanitarium and already used most health items and weapons. I even resorted to the throwing weapons, which I didn't use my first playthrough years ago. I'm wondering if I'm going to make it?
I'm a LONG TIME Silent Hill fan. I know the trick is to not fight. But, for me, it seems that the monsters are stationed right where I need to pass. And quick time events allow other monsters to advance and prepare their attack as I mash X or O or W.
From Resident Evil and Silent Hill, I learned to conserve my stronger weapons. In Silent Hill, use melee over bullets. In those years then, I didn't mind the breakable weapons. Hell, I never used them. My Travis was a fight club brawler with a loaded gun. In Downpour, I didn't mind either.
But this time...
FUCK THESE DOLLAR STORE CRAP WEAPONS CAUSING MY TRUCKER TO FLINCH WHEN THEY BREAK BECAUSE I DIDN'T CHECK THE BLOODY COLOR IN THE MENU!!!
Still, I'm motivated to finish. I know it isn't 100% canonical with the first, but, damn it, I'm playing the series in order for once. It's going to be a bitch when I reach Homecoming.
Any of you feel at all similar or am I just losing my gaming mojo?
