Cool, they're directly contradicting a game that came out RIGHT BEFORE IT. lol I'm sorry, this company is balls.Burning Man wrote:http://wii.ign.com/objects/143/14325477 ... utThisGame
Awesome.Harry Mason and his daughter Cheryl are heading to a small midwestern resort town.
Usually I wouldn't be so negative about a new game--honestly, I'm really willing to give things a chance--but nothing I've heard about this has so far pleased me. This is just the icing on the "Bitch, pls" cake. Can't these developers do anything right? First Origins, now this crap.
I'm not dead yet, dammit.
Hey Origins was a good game, a little short but a good game overall
The game is still in development and they can change it how ever they wish, They could pull a Resident Evil 2 or pull a Silent Hill Origins, the only thing that I know for sure though, is that we fans have no say in how its developed.

Very true! Though I almost wish RE2 had continued on from what it was planned as, but I'm still happy with what came out. And yeah, what we were given as the Origins' final form was lightyears better than what we first saw. I was being 50% facetious, 50% serious with my grievances, truth be told.
I'm not dead yet, dammit.
We don't know for sure that the midwestern thing is confirmed or just the IGN Wii dude talking about things he doesn't know about. The whole "midwestern" thing tends to spring to mind because that's where Raccoon City was. The term "midwestern town" has been hammered into the minds of horror gamers.
As for contradicting Homecoming, the game isn't necessarily bound to consider anything that any prior SH has said about ANYTHING, much less geography.
The Texan flag thing doesn't mean anything, either. Hell, we have Texan-themed restaurants here in Nova Scotia with Texan flags on the walls, and that doesn't make my city exist in Texas. It's just a tacky theme.

"Oh yeah, I've been here before
I can see it with eyes closed
Shadows that look like blood
Dead as far as the mind goes
Fear that comes from my head
Lives in the mirror"

Good point. There's a Texas Roadhouse in my town. Plus there are Chinese ffod courts, sushi bars, and an Olive Garden. So there's really no way to speculate as to where SH is based on the stores. Also, why does it matter where SH geographically? I've never understood that.Droo wrote:We don't know for sure that the midwestern thing is confirmed or just the IGN Wii dude talking about things he doesn't know about. Yeah, yours truly brought up the possibility that the restaurant may be Texas-themed in the first place. Thank you very much.
There may be many Texas-themed restaurants in the real world, but you should consider that this is fictional setting we're talking about here. Developers put it in there because they thought it was a good idea, and I'm doubtful that idea was, "Hey, there are many Texas-themed restaurants in the real world; let's create one right here in our favorite resort town, Silent Hill. Our fans are sure to cream their pants at how realistic this is."
Please.
I haven't seen one good reason why Silent Hill shouldn't be located in Texas much as any other state around here.

That wasn't my point.. Snow is more prevalent in New England. In Texas? Not so much. Certainly not enough for an incapacitating snow storm I mean I know Climax is in Cali but come on, even they can operate a simple web search.
I don't think it was Paleville--I think it was the old south district, right near the apartments and Neely's Bar. It's sad that I can't remember D:

Well we do still have a number of 50s diners here in Texas believe it or not, but I guess it's just a mid western thing as well. :p
It's snowed here for more than that before, but in resent years, what with the climate change not so much anymore. Now our coldest winter was 80 for a three day weekend. :pKrist. wrote:It doesn't snow in Texas. Or if it does, it doesn't last more than a day. Ice storms can be bad in the northern part of Texas, but those too don't last long. Thus negating the whole point of a snowstorm making Harry crash.

Because the snow was not at all supernaturally induced and in defiance of nature in the original SH1, right? That wasn't my point.. Snow is more prevalent in New England. In Texas? Not so much. Again, that's not my point either.
This game is up the ass of ~realism~ and how they want to make things realistic and believable. A snowstorm in Texas sure as shit ain't realistic, now, is it? Nor is no one commenting on that storm (bartender person Harry meets, as mentioned in the interview, makes no comment to the storms peculiarity, just that it might be keeping people away. Huh.)
But it's Climax. These people aren't exactly an A+ group of folks.

seems like I'm one of few fans here, who isn't accepting Homecoming as canon, but after this game comes out I won't be so lonely in this camp anymore. I'm really curious what they will cook up now or if they manage to will follow up what their collegues made up out of Homecoming. The case is getting complicated

Silent Hill was, is and will always be in the "Northeast of the United States", as stated by Team Silent, the ORIGINAL creators of the series.
Whatever the new game developers do or say, it can't change a FACT.
I don't even see this game as part of the Silent Hill series anymore. Unfortunately.
