A mini-preview on Kotaku shines light on some cool touches to the retelling; including monsters that can pull Harry out of hiding places.
Sounds like the game will really be "reviewing" your actions, changing in-game things from graphical details to different story arcs.

So yeah, I'm excited!! :o

The article is mostly old news, but being yanked out of hiding sounds like a really cool detail.

YEY. It's good to hear more positive reviews about it. I can't wait for this game!

so apparently the characters change appearance based on our profile? am I reading this right?

Quote:
Psyche!: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is watching you. It pays attention to the things you look at and how long you look at them, building a profile based on your behavior. Stare at racy pictures often and soon the game's artwork takes on a saucy bent. An NPC police woman I met a little later on featured a sexy cop in a tight, unbuttoned shirt, which the player next to me had a much more mousy looking police woman show up in the same spot. It's a very nifty mechanic that should stir up a lot of conversation between players, comparing and contrasting their experience.

yep, aside from the questions in the beginning, how well/bad you interact with the surrounding would affect the story.

Pretty cool, huh dood?

Yep! I think this was confirmed in the first article, IIRC. :D
I can't wait to see what kind of Cybil I get, lol!

hmm... one thing I love from this is the fact that they refer to the monsters as the "base creatures" and they morph and change depending on who you are.

So I guess there isn't going to be monster any "types", just your personal monster chasing you throughout the game. :|

With that said, there had better be a hell of a lot of variations! :x

What I think is most interesting is that they're COMPLETELY removing the battle aspect of the game and turning into pure survival horror - somewhat of an Alone in the Dark-esque kind of thing. I think it'll make it much scarier, because now instead of being the clumsy, awkward Harry Mason, you're now a clumsy, awkward Harry Mason without a gun or steel pipe.

I also saw the playthrough of the first part of the game on IGN and found it to be interesting that they decided to go with an ice theme in the beginning. I don't know what it means, but it looks fun and dark.

And I ABSOLUTELY love the psychological aspect of the game, with everything changing based on short tests, what you look at, and what you do throughout the game. That's a really interesting aspect.

I don't know how I feel about the use of the cell phone though. That sort of put me off a little.

But, either way, I'm VERY excited for this release and can't wait to play it!

Pool of blood, sea of fire, and needle mountains. It is the lullaby of Hell.
