Voice message in walkthrough
Do you think there is a connection between the questionnaire in Dr. K's office and the message from the angry wife who had her wedding tape erased? The person playing answered that they cheated and Dr. K made a note of it.

No.
He was in a place called "Clear Picture", which was a "camera, tv, appliances store and I'm assuming a store that can put old videos onto DVDs or something...I'm assuming she wanted to get her wedding day video onto DVD/CD and the store erased it...and they are also not replying to her phone calls. The significance of this will not be known for quite some time, obviously.

I'm just wondering since they seem kind of related. I think that one of the easiest ways to get under the player's skin could be through audio tracks that are swapped in and out based on the psyche profile. It's possible that the game attempts to guilt the player sometimes.
I personally found the message a little creepy. I thought maybe the game could be setting up metaphor for the player.

Oh I agree entirely. Perhaps it's a combination of the psyche profile and the store. Perhaps if the answers were different, there would be a different problem on the recorder based on what you said on the psyche profile.DrainDeimos wrote:I'm just wondering since they seem kind of related. let's all make a plot based on what we have seen so far and the one closest to the one released will win a fabulous prize.
or not.
or not.
Long before the existence of Silent Hill, the ground there was seen as sacred by native americans and it was the place where rituals occured...

The woman represents Harry's guilt over being unfaithful to his wife. She is his mother. She, like Cybil, will be very unhelpful and call him (on his iPhone) drunkenly accusing him of doing things he actually did some years ago.
More importantly, Harry, your daughter is missing. You're breaking and entering and leaving the scene of an accident. A silent alarm has possibly been triggered. Now is not the time to circle through the store's messages.
Harry, even on the Wii, is not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree.

I Lol'ed. There's definitely symbolism in the voice message. It'll be interesting to see if he chose faithful if we'd be getting the same message. (Kinda rehashing what I said earlier, but whatever, this is interesting!)

The voice message is actually linked to the answer you give in the psychological test and there's like 18 possible messages, the one you get depend on the combinaison of answers/choices you made. This is according to the producer Tomm Hullett during an interview.
"And it's interesting to see how the game responds to players. I stumbled across an answering machine in the abandoned station, which Hulett says will play one of something like 18 different possible messages. Having indicated that I'm a faithful partner who doesn't drink much, I doubt it's a coincidence that the message I found on the machine was of a drunken woman angrily ranting about how a video store erased tapes of her wedding. "How am I supposed to replace that?" she slurred. I'll admit it -- it was uncomfortable to listen to, and it was all the creepier knowing that the game had effectively selected something that really was so personally unsettling."

That is so awesome. I had my suspicions about swapping multiple audio tracks but 18 variable messages?! I think this game is going to rock. It is really going to screw with the player's mind and imagine the replay value...order soldier wrote:The voice message is actually linked to the answer you give in the psychological test and there's like 18 possible messages, the one you get depend on the combinaison of answers/choices you made. I wonder if we'll get custom "Nowheres" at the end of the game.
Ah my theory is correct, yay! It's good to see that there are developers who are serious into bringing a new Silent Hill game out, but a true one at that, while also adding their own take and their own intuitive and unique (ala wii remote/psyche profile) elements to the game. I'm excited!DrainDeimos wrote:That is so awesome. I had my suspicions about swapping multiple audio tracks but 18 variable messages?! I think this game is going to rock. Tomm Hulett also said that the game pay attention to what the player is watching during character interactions.
"He also recounted one person who had chosen the most perverted options possible and constantly tried looking down the female characters' shirts. "Does the game actually pay attention to that?" I asked.
"Absolutely," he said.
"So there's a different ending for sexual deviants?"
"This is Silent Hill," he said, simply and to the point. "

I hope there are male characters other than Harry in this game, because I will most definitely stare at their crotches to see if that also changes things.
I wonder if staring too closely also has an effect (like, say, constantly zooming in on character faces). This is exciting.

I'll try to play as naturally as I can the first time around. After that, I'm gonna go for the perv ending. If there are crotches to stare at I'll be staring.

Or, as might end up being the case, I'll accidently get the perv ending the first try.

[spoiler]Harry's name isn't Harry. Harry is just a nickname. His name is Harrold.
James' actual occupation is clerk.
Heather smoked until the age of 17.
EDIT - INFLAMATORY - T.
Travis is virgin.
Alex's a uninteresting character.
The bushes in the original SMB are also the clouds.
