pre-order.

Post by crucifix »

is anyone else planning to pre-order this? it's available for such, and i'm debating it... but is it likely that the price will go down sometime before release or possibly after?

i'm just trying to figure out what a better option is.

Unless you're receiving a promotional item for pre-ordering (such as the OST or something), I really don't see any point in doing so. I highly doubt the game will be in huge demand, so finding a copy on release day shouldn't be a problem.

I can't recall any game ever having its MSRP reduced between pre-order and release.

So, what ^ said.

I've had the price lower between preorder and release before... but it was on Amazon and regarding an Atlus game (Persona 4, specifically), which could be considered a special case.

I'll probably preorder Shattered Memories, if for no other reason than pure habit.

If I'm able to figure out where the nearest game store in Iowa is (I saw one on campus, I want to see if I have some off-campus) then I know for sure i'm pre-ordering it. I just feel better knowing I'll be moer or less guarenteed a copy.

I'm just going to go get it the release date.

I'd hate to pre-order it and then have to wait an extra three days for it to ship.

I will preorder, if there is a promotional item.

Like everyone else says, for games like this you only really want to spend the extra cash to preorder if it comes with a promotional item.

I hope it's a Great Knife extension for the Wiimote.

The only reasons to pre-order for me are:

1) Being a big fan, you absolutely must get it on Day 1 and it's going to be sold out (this never happens)

2) There's some kind of pre-order bonus item or incentive. (Usually the case, like a soundtrack CD, artbook or a beta invite)

3) You want the limited edition version of something that is going to be very limited that won't be released again... (You get these sometimes)

Otherwise I just walk into the store day 1 or later and grab it. Depending on the game's popularity you might get it on discount a few months later, or if you wait a little until Christmas or something a store might have some sales and bargains going on.

hm.

well, i do want the lowered price, but i also want to get it before the inevitable spoilers - and before a walkthrough is created so i won't be tempted to look at it if i get stuck. which happens a lot.

i don't buy games that often. leaning toward getting it as soon as i can for those reasons, though.

crucifix - If you don't buy games that frequently and want to avoid spoilers, I say you should pre-order it for sure. Might as well buy it from Amazon, since it's eligible for free shipping (though it'll take a bit longer to get to you).

I pre-order stuff all the time, promotional item or no. It just provides for some comfort since I'm guaranteed to get the item.

I'll only pre-order unless there's something special like an OST involved or something like that.

I'm planning to preorder, but I can only do it after I get moved in to figure out where all the game shops and such are.

I'm officially going to preorder when my next paycheck comes. Even though they haven't announced a preorder gift, I just decided I want to.
