Mary's talented, but I was not a very big fan of Yamaoka adding vocals to his music after 3. I'd rather hear them instrumental, but maybe that's just me.

If I remember correctly, Mary's vocals don't appear in-game very much. I think we should consider that this song was presented as part of the trailer.

The Silent Hill games have had two vocalists in a game before in SH3 and 4. Maybe this time we have two female vocalists.

As long as I don't have to hear Joe Romersa's warble and gargle, I'm fine.

I don't. His singing voice is a lot like mine, and that's no compliment to Joe.

I think they changed the voice to match with the change in the trailer? The trailer is basically the same as the other one but with character changes. Maybe they thought it would be neat to change the singer as well?

Aw AITT, that just makes me want to compose a theme song for your SH2 novelization that you can sing. <3

I think it's just an alternate song due to the Psyche Profile.
I didn't think it was that bad; but if Mary's gone, I'll be really depressed. :|
Wonder when is Akira gonna find a male singer just suited for Silent Hill? :?

Poor fellow's got some guts (ooompah ooompah ooompahpah)
But Pyramid Head tried to kill him dead
Used his knife to take Jim's nuts (ooompah ooompah ooompahpah)

LOLLING *SO HARD* right now.

To stay on topic I'll reiterate that I am 99% sure this new singer ties in with the whole psych profile thing.

I really don't believe it has anything to due with the psych profile. That would be ridiculous. A bit gimmicky, too. The same exact song with slightly softer vocals? I would expect the ambiance to change, if any of the soundtrack will. I honestly couldn't even tell a difference when I watched the trailer, but then I guess I haven't listened to the soundtracks enough, not the vocal songs atleast. That said, I don't really care for Akira's vocal tracks. The subpar lyrics subtract from the pure emotion of the composition.

And I'm sure Mary is still in.

I like Mary's voice. It's husky and throaty and I think carries emotion well.

Joe's voice on the other hand is just unpleasant, in my opinion.

Everyone has different opinions on what good singing is.

IMO, both of them aren't that good.

Well, clearly McGlynn is not the best singer in the world. No one's arguing that. I certainly wouldn't say she's BAD though.

I doubt she's gone because she is seen in a video in this thread talking about the new game and recording songs. And god I hope she never leaves the soundtrack cause she's the perfect singer for the game!
....what if theres a...

Personally I like both Mary and Joe very, VERY much. It's a damn shame we haven't heard Romersa's voice since SH4 :(.

If they could find a better singer, by all means, use her. But the woman who is singing this version just sounds weird. It doesn't suit the trailer and I think McGlynn's rendition is nicely subdued and moody, where this other one is just loud and flat.

I think the grainy, unpolished qualities about MEM's voice is perfect for the games. I think that this new voice seems a little too bubble-gum pop for this game.

I was expecting her to break out w/ "Hey!(hey) You!(you!) I don't like you girlfriend. No way (No way)! I think you need a new one!)" : /
