Still I haven't realized why the otherworld is frozen.

The producer said that the icy theme was a huge point to the plot, but I still don't know what exactly the ice means to Cheryl at all.

Is the "lonely" feeling that the Ice brings? Because it doesn't have to be exactly ice to feel alone or something... or it reflects the "frozen reality" that Cheryl hasn't accepted?

I think it's the frozen reality. Cheryl's constantly trying to stop herself from realizing that Harry is dead and had his own flaws, which seems to be what the ice and Raw Shocks represent. If you noticed, every time anyone (especially Cybil) tried to explain what they knew about Harry, the Otherworld would come.

It's about time standing still. Cheryl wont allow herself to move on from the events of the car crash. Whenever Harry gets close to progressing past the (ummm) past the world would freeze over again as Cheryl was not ready to believe he was dead. It's a really good metaphor that just wouldn't work with burning rust.

I think I also remember hearing that the weather was more or less the same when Real Harry had his accident.

The are some references to ice & frozen aspect of the game, 'frigid' relationships -> the messages you get.
I think it symbolically represents the frigid relationship Harry & her wife had, & what it might have seemed to Cheryl.
Although I've just finished the game for the first time... last night, & the ending I got was
the one in which Harry's wife slaps him a couple of times.
This. Also worth mentioning is the way the snow stops falling and is just stuck in the air, which emphasizes the same thing.

I always thought the ice represented the inability to move on from the car crash in general. Cheryl is trying to keep this image of her ideal father "frozen" inside her mind, and so, she literally uses ice to try and keep him there. I feel like it was an easy conclusion to make since the title of the game is "Shattered Memories", and like her memory, ice can shatter... and I suppose that is a suggestion that the "shattering" is an attempt to distort her own reality.

I thought that it was to do with the icy-cold water her Father died in? It always gave me the impression that he died in part to the extreme cold (I especially think this since Cybil makes a passing comment about how he could have died of hypothermia at one bit).

We don't know any real details about how Harry died. He could've died in the summer for all we know.

I thought it was in the water because in the swimming scene it looks like Harry is pushing Cheryl to the surface. Though I guess it's all just my interpretation.

Um...huh? What do you mean by it looking like Harry is pushing Cheryl to the surface?

I think liquidus118 meant the swimming scene near the end, when there are all those "statues" viewable beneath the water.

What is the memory which sets off the second manifestation of the Otherworld? This one being in the woods near the Orion Lodge. The others are pretty easy, but I can't figure out what possible revelation is being suppressed at this location.

We're not sure, but the general consensus is that the party got way out of hand, and that a murder or death that Cheryl witnessed may have taken place here.

This. It's also possible that someone (maybe Cheryl, maybe not) was raped, though we seem to be leaning toward death instead of rape.

It could've been rape. Weren't the "guys acting strange", and then her drink got spiked?

The other manifestations seem to be related to Cheryl's delusion of Harry, though. This would appear to be an exception.

They're all tied into Cheryl denying things she doesn't want to accept: The truth about Harry, terrible things that happened in her life, etcetera.

The whole forest is a bit of an exception anyway, since it's just a mash of so many different periods of her life.

I feel the frozen otherworld all goes back to Cheryl wanting to stop time in its tracks. If everything freezes, then the bad things can't happen, then they can stay happy.

^Yeah, but ice melts.
Cheryl's frozen delusion is only delaying the inevitable.
...Well, depending on what ending you get. XD
