^ The different variations are caused by how you play the game. You're playing the game differently this time, so you're getting a different version of the events. I don't think any of them are supposed to add on to each other, but rather replace them to show the idea of distorted memories, which plays a vital role in this game.

Wouldn't it still be possible that she did drown? One of the other kids could went in to help her, but upon reaching the shore realised it was to late and left the body there?

No, because she is sitting in Dr. Kauffman's office at the end of the game.
Harry is the one who dies

The girl in those photos isn't Cheryl though.

Maybe the 'drowning' thing is a metaphor for her delusion? As in the girl sunk under the ice water and remained frozen there...how Cheryl's been living her life?

Can't see any of the pictures. ): Interesting though. I'll have to take a look the next time I'm playing.

Harry is a figment of Cheryl's imagination. He died yr.s ago. He never dies in the game, he is only detained. Just like the fact that he doesn't freeze and drown either time he is in water that has thick ice floating on it.

And it isn't Cheryl exactly but another mental projection, just like all the other manifestations in the town, i.e. the troubled girl in the mall, the kid and father w/n the mall, the girl w/ the teacher at the school, etc.

There are only the two girls there: Cheryl and Jackie
Jackie calls her mom and goes home early, before anything bad happens. ( it's in an echo message)
So that leaves cheryl. The guys slipped her a mickey, and depending on what ending you get, or whatever, different things happen. If one of those things were that she drowns, then the game would of ended right there. But because Cheryl is still alive throughout the whole game, that means her memory of what happened after they slipped her the mickey, is distorted, and therefore inconsistent.

To be more clear, Cheryl was the only girl there with the boys after Jackie left. The guys slipped her a roofie. Whatever happened after that, is unclear.

It's never clarified whether or not Jackie was actually picked up early. She calls her mom and leaves a message, but we don't know when her mom answered it, if at all. It's entirely possible that Jackie is the girl being talked about.

Also no fucking way are there only two girls at a party.

Jackie calls her mom because she is frightened, uncomfortable.
I speculate that what causes her to call her mom, is she saw Cheryl unconscious, or that she felt like something bad was going to happen and wanted to leave early.

Like I said, Cheryl was drugged, but what happens afterward is unclear.
