Harry's car

Post by MapDark »

First I thought lazyness in making 3d models, but then it IS Silent Hill so it can't just be that.

Dis you ever notice how Harry's station wagon seems to reappear left and right throughout the game?

When walking through the street of Silent Hill I've seen Harry's car quite a few times .

I can remember seeing it close to the cat house/green lotus/honey trap .
At Lakeside and I think somewhere else that I can't remember.

It's like a weird constant reminder of the accident.

Come to think of it, I think I have noticed this once and just forgot about it. It does seem like it could be a reminder of the accident. I wonder what else it could mean.

Well yes, that and the constant car crashes throughout the game. They're all crystallization of the truth.

I may be wrong but I think that his car could have also been the one in the scrap shop that you go through in the very beginning. They probably did it on purpose.

Harry Mason probably died in the junk yard after crashing his car there. Cheryl manifests this at the beginning of the game.

You could also make a very good case that he crashed into a body of water and drowned, considering how often Construct!Harry seems to be dragged out of water by a cop. Regardless of whether or not Harry died in the Junkyard, it's the best place to start Harry in the narrative due to it's proximity to both Levin St. and the relevant nearby echo locations, like the payground, where she got her dress, etc.

I was going to say that they just used that model instead of creating new car models, but because these are her memories it does fit the theory that she's constantly remembering the accident.

And I think the fact that they're all placed in pretty subtle locations has significance too. The memory is there, and it's ALWAYS there, but Cheryl doesn't want to recognize it and face up to the truth so she buries it behind other memories / snow and fences.

Good analysis, Harle! I totally agree. You won't notice it's the same car unless you really look closely.

Very interesting... it seems that Cheryl is very aware of the truth the whole time.

I think the reason he starts in the junkyard is because that is where his car is currently sitting after the accident, not because he crashed there.

....if Cheryl was in the back seat (as Harry said)...why was her bear in the Passenger seat?
Have you seen a little girl? Short, black hair? About seven years old? A Bastard Child? May or may not be the Mother of God/Satan?.........Shes my Daughter.

She was sleeping in the back, so maybe she crawled back there and left her bear up front.

I knew most of this before, but I only now noticed that the car in the last screenshot still had the warping from the crash. Goddamn, this is the best game in the series for me because of stuff like this.

I seemed to miss that when I played through. I usually play through the first time paying attention to the story and such. It's usually later that I start picking up on subtle things like that. I only played SHSM once, looks like I need to give it another go.
