heres something, (spoilers)
we know that this is a reimagining, but i think certain things should be added to the sh timeline. such as cheryls life and also places like toluca mall

Wouldn't SM require a separate timeline though? They're not in the same "universe" or whatever, so putting them on the same timeline might be confusing for some people. Also, is there enough information about the real world and real world events in SM to even make a timeline?

I agree with you.Soulless-Shadow wrote:Wouldn't SM require a separate timeline though? I wouldn't like that.. mainly because of the life of Cheryl. I felt sorry for her, such a horrible life...
And yeah, putting it in the same timeline would contradict a lot of stuff of the other games.

Oh no, here comes the silent hill equivalent of Zelda's timeline! We're going to be branching paths, putting later games before older games, and having mass riots!
Really, I say just drop shattered memories from the "official" timeline. It's a great game by its own merits, but I see no reason to include it since it is a reimagining. Consider it the coolest extra feature ever for the first game.
Edit:
Why do people really care so much about the series of events? Not to knock what the adversary has done. I think it's a really great thing to look over and see all the different events from the town history, but why is everyone so concerned about placing the games on a specific spot on a timeline?

So that people can see in a more linear and logical form the events that happened before, during, and after the games. It adds to the whole experience, and consolidates all the information we get from each game. Really, it's to make sense of everything.Typographenia wrote: Why do people really care so much about the series of events? Not to knock what the adversary has done. I believe that this game shouldn't be included in the timeline. If we go by this game, Harry's dead when Cheryl's a child... Shattered Memories is a great game for the series, but it shouldn't be lumped with the others.

Which means that Origins and 1 happened, but that would be using the Bad ending... Cheryl also dies in that ending. Which means Silent Hill 3 wouldn't have happened.
Re: heres something, (spoilers)
I don't think so...
though it's own timeline would be nice

Re: heres something, (spoilers)
Except events in the Shattered Memories timeline shifts around due to different ending branches and most of the dates and information being purely imaginary constructs of Cheryl's fantasy. There's very, very, VERY little we can make an actual time out of. We're fed almost pure bullshit.

Re: heres something, (spoilers)
thats not entirely true. there are consistent things like that cheryl got arrested. i find that consistencies thru out the game are actualities

Yes, but the actualities have no dates assigned to them. WHEN did Cheryl get arrested? It could've been anywhere from when she was 14 to 25.

how about the fact toluca mall was up and running in the 1500s.

Where in the mall? And are you sure it isn't just talking about the town history, not the mall?

Re: heres something, (spoilers)
Maybe it was a market that opened in the 1500's.
But in all seriousness, I don't think a timeline should be added to the main one. It will FAIL. But, as I said earlier, a SM timeline on it's own would be good.

I find that extremely hard to believe. I mean, there definitely weren't towns around in that point in time, let alone shopping centers. Are you sure it didn't say 1900? That seems a bit more reasonable, and I could see a 5 looking like a 9 if it's a lower resolution.

1900s makes much more sense, haha. I remember that poster, too.
I agree that a timeline for SM would be too hectic, especially to include it in the Silent Hill canon timeline. Not a good idea.
Pointing out consistencies and what is canon in the realm of SM is always nice, though.
