Silent Hill: Downpour E3 Panel

I haven't finished watching it yet, but here's the panel about Silent Hill: Downpour (and other Silent Hill-related things). So far, they've confirmed that Mary Elizabeth McGlynn is directing--and starring in--the Silent Hill Collection.

Didn't see that one coming!
I'm really interested to hear more on this. Kind of funny that everyone from the music side keeps taking the director seat!
And I just finished saying how I wished she would have an actual role in the series at some point! I HAVE THE POWER!

Listening now.
Devin Shatsky sounds really nervous.
His "pyramid head" answer made me double-take. : P

I have to wonder If they will add more areas to it? I mean they are going through the trouble of re-voicing the games :| ! Heather already sounds awesome.

In fact I feel SH3 was already well done. In fact, nostalgia may be changing how I feel but, I wish they didn't mess with the voices. The residents of old silent hill always had this creepy calmness to their voices. :D

I'm guessing that it's just the same game with new voices and upgraded graphics.

Also, Shatsky specifically mentions that KoRn's involvement in the game is a custom song, so I'm guessing they'll be subduing themselves a bit and making it more in line with the SH style.

"The man plays a mean mandolin, what else do you want?" -Devin Shatsky
Best line in the panel, haha!

I would have preferred less questions on "how do you think you measure up?" or past games, but still some good stuff. The personal philosophies about the team and the direction of the series were well answered.
Surprisingly short panel, but I guess it needs to be at E3, haha.

But.......but the voices in SH3 were already PERFECT!!!
They not only keep making bad decisions regarding the new titles, they have to go back and screw with the old ones as well?

I think that's a bit of an extreme jump, Number 7. I'd say they were far from perfect. They were really good but there's always room for improvement, you know? Besides, it's not like the HD collections of SH2 and 3 suddenly makes the originals cease to exist.

She'll probably just be voicing someone :P She did voice Claudia in one of the OST's versions of a song, so maybe her?

I disagree. I feel like a lot of the acting in 2 and 3 were really stilted and unnatural, especially people that weren't Heather. Even then, some of Heather's lines felt really odd.

Yeah, some of the lines were odd. But I blame that more on the writing rather than the acting. I'd say that Claudia and Leonard could use a change, but Heather, Douglas, and Vincent were great.

But I have absolutely no problem with changing the VOs for SH2, with the exception of Laura.

I think Laura could have been better. I mean, it's great that they actually got a kid to do it but she was a pretty awkward kid... xD

3 may be my favorite in the series but it had some pretty cringe-worthy lines in there

I wasn't thrilled about the Korn announcement at first, but it's better than Slipknot. There's a chance they could actually do something really cool with it as well, however small the chance may be. The rest of the panel sounded promising as well.

Great news about re releasing SH2 and 3! I'm guessing that's what Guy Cihi was referring to some time ago regarding being contacted by Konami. Maybe they're having him re record his lines as James! Hope this is the case.

Mary's gonna direct the HD re-releases...wait,what?

Has Konami seriously lost it?!

I know the fans love her songs in the Silent hill series...but that's no reason for her to mess up what are already great games despite their flaws....she's a singer not a director!

^Pretty much my thoughts--though, they did the same thing w/ Akria Yamaoka, so... history repeating itself.

I love the bit about the logic behind the "weeping bats". The fact that they actually have reasoning behind their monsters-- reasoning that makes sense to the character, ahhhhhh I joygasmed. Twice.
