Murphy is a robot, but doesn't know it. He was created by Robot Dahlia sometime before SH1, but not activated and implanted with memories until sometime later by Howard Blackwood. Placing him in the prison and bringing him back to Silent Hill is part of Howard and nun woman's quest to prove that Rick Deckard is in fact a replicant.
Definitely one of the more believable theories thus far.

I agree, because
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
not only is Deckard a replicant, we're all replicants. In the Matrix. Therefore, we have both internal and external sources of entirely false memories.
I dunno if there's gonna be a twist, at the end. Unless it's really good, I hope there isn't, because the thing about twists is that you can only do 'em once. For something meant to be played (or watched, since this applies to many other media) repeatedly, hanging everything on one moment that can never be recaptured is the surest way to the used market.

I think that there will definitely be unexpected turns to the story, much like how SH1 handed you a new piece of info every once in a while that would confuse and brain rape you. But an actual plot twist? I'm crossing my fingers that Vatra doesn't Shyamalan it up.

According to "The IT Crowd", once you know there's a twist you'll spend the whole time trying to figure out what it is. Here are some extremely valid ideas.

-He's dreaming.
-He's actually dead.
-He's in the process of dying.
-He's hallucinating.
-He's hallucinating because he's in the process of dying.
-Cunningham is actually his sister.
-They're all robots.
-He's his own father.
-Time travel.
-He's in a mental institution.
-He's forgotten he's a pedophile.
-He's just upset that his mother forgot to bake him cookies one day.
-He's overcoming a troublesome bed-wetting problem. (Hence the water.)
-He accidentally left the faucet on one night. (Hence the water.)

If at least three of these twists aren't present in the game, I will be disappointed.

here is my two cents:
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
Going back to one of the earlier trailers the character with the coin seems to sugest he isn't who Murphy says he is. Now add to this the revenge angle and what do you get. Some killed his children (maybe during a car accident in the rain) and he wants revenge, he took someone elses name to get close to who ever did it
Eh it sounded better in my head.

I'm not sure if this might be relevant but it'd be interesting if
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
the boy was Murphy and the girl was Cunnigham
At least thats the vibe I'm getting.

I've read Whitney's analysis of The TGS 2011 Trailer ...and this is what i believe the story is about....
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
1.It's a story of revenge....
2.Murphy is a loving father who lost his wife giving birth to his only son.
3. His son is brutally raped and murdered by a paedophile...
4.Due to the nature of the legal system, the paedophile is acquitted...
5.Consumed by rage and hatred..he kills the paedophile in a horrific fashion..
6.The media labels him a monster and he is imprisoned for life...
7.Murphy is called into Silent Hill to come to terms with his wife and son's death as well as his own crime of murdering the man who killed his son...
Now I Know, The Real Reason Why I Came To This Town....I Wonder....What Was I Afraid Of? Without You..I've Got Nothing...Now, We Can Be Together Again.....Mary.....

Although I really do not want any of these guesses to be the ending, but with Murphy's Law (OOOOoooo a pun!) one of them probably will be.

It will be "interesting" if the story is about
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
pedophile. Consider the 10+ year old debate on Angela's abuse was argued till there is no end. This one can be controversial again if they don't make it "clear" whether the kid was really being molested. Oh gosh... I can already see 60+ pages coming with another 3 polls T_T
