There's a truck on Ketchum Street in Port District that has the same brand name on the side as Travis's truck in Origins.

I always saw the dead dogs as a reference to Eddie Dombrowski in SH2, that killed that one dog. Later in SH:Homecoming you could get an XBox Achievement that was a reference to the dog Eddie Dombrowski killed, so why not? ^^

Chastain Heights might be a reference to Stephen King's "Misery." (I didn't see this in the search, sorry if it's been mentioned somewhere.)

Did you notice?

In the tell tale heart side quest has anyone noticed the uncanny resemblance between the corpse and Adam Shepherd? Its been nagging at me since I first played. :o The corpse is also dressed in what seems to be military uniform.Probably nothing, but its interesting.

Merged since I'm fairly certain this is an Easter Egg.

They certainly do look very similar.

I think I read about that somewhere (may have been SHC). I definitely agree that they look strikingly similar. His pants kind of look like khakis and a lot like Adam's in Homecoming.

I think they both look like John Locke from Lost.

the sh4 easter egg was the best

if i ever had the chance to make a silent hill game, in some point of the game, the character would walk by a mail box and say "no...no letter's from my dead wife here"

There's one like that in Silent Hill 3.

The Dates on the Letters puzzle

So I just got done finishing downpour and something that I had taken particular attention to was the dates on the letters in that frustrating letter puzzle, at first I thought nothing of it but it struck me today that the oldest letter is from 1999 the year of silent hill one and each year after that matches the date of the succeeding silent hill up until origins. I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before but I have searched it and found nothing. If not well I thought this was a pretty cool little detail.

Whoa... I'm always surprised by how observant others are.
Great find. I'll be sure to pay attention next time.

That's really cool. I'll look for that next time.

By the way, this could've easily gone in this thread.

Kind of a small one, but quite nifty none the less...

When you visit the replica of room 302 from SH4, and you walk around in the hallway where the door to henry's bedroom and bathroom were, your footfalls change to sound exactly like when harry would walk on the otherworld metal grating in SH1, and only right in that section of the room :) I'm starting to fall in love with downpour!

When you visit Room 302 from Silent Hill 4, why is there a third door down at the end of the hallway? There was no third door in Silent Hill 4. I know that was where Walter was hiding, and that it was some sort of storage room, but still there was no door. The lamp is also missing from Henry's counter right by the hole in Eileens wall, yet the lamp is still shining it's light on the wall - check it out the next time you're playing.

There WAS a third door, before it was cemented up.

In the "Turning Back Time" sidequest, after you see the murder in reverse, the husband's "spirit" begins to crawl out of his portrait in an identical fashion as the ghosts from SH4.
