Xbox 360 got a patch.

Post by silenthillking »

Yesterday i played Downpour and it gave me a 2mb patch i don't no the full extent of the patch but it can't be that good why.

I loaded a save from the monastery/orphan house and right where the fps problems kicks in happened again (floor where the girl is sitting on the chair).
As for out doors i don't no haven't had a change to play there yet

one more problem i think the patch has made is texture streaming seems worse you no when you walk in a room and the base textures are showing not the final textures. It could be me or the patch or the fact last time i played Downpour
i had it installed on a hard drive.

Yeah, I downloaded the patch yesterday and spent today playing through the game in its entirety to test it out, completing all the side-quests as I went.

The patch seems to have done nothing really. I thought it had at first but, after a while, when you're running around the streets, the stuttering is still very evident. Entering and using the subway is still awful as well.

Bit of a bummer really :(

Welp....
I have gone through Downpour three times. I love it & find it to be very playable, although the stuttering & glitches drag-down the experience.
I hope the PS3 patch is more substantial.

If not, I can live with it. Still though...

A patch for a Silent Hill game that does jack shit? knock me over with a feather

The key issues addressed are framerate, the save game system, bugs in the "Homeless" mission, and various other unlisted bug fixes.

The second patch for the PS3 HD Collection actually does alot. Downpour just may need another one, even if I never had issues with the vanilla game.

I guess Konami decided to balance the karma for not releasing a patch for the HD Collection on Xbox by screwing PS3 owners over on the patch for Downpour?

"In a few weeks." I'll believe it when I see it.

^ I thought the same thing actually when I first realized it was currently 360-only :)

If they're making it even, they had better offer a free game as well! Hehe.

With Konami a few weeks means several months.

Or a cancellation after a few weeks of waiting.

I think Konami just needs to scuttle Downpour and proceed as if it never existed.

Bring on the Kojima SH game!

Well, at least if Kojima gets to make a game we will never need a patch, you can't bug up cutscenes.

I'm still confused on the Kojima topic...will he be participating in the new game or not?

It seems like there are already plans for a Silent Hill 7, considering the Konami Exec asking him to work on it. Won't be too long before an announcement, I suppose. (Hope to God it's a female character this time, though).

I'm happily surprised. Did it fix the mini freezing?

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm about to start playing.
I'll report back with my personal experience.

UPDATE: Ok, so I've played through the starting areas of Downpour and have just arrived into town, which is where the framerate/lag problems were worst for me (in the streets).
I can say that the patch has helped. In my three prior playthrough's of Downpour un-patched, the game would consistently lag outdoors on the streets if I was moving.

With it patched, I ran around a few blocks and through some backyards as well as fought a couple monsters & stuck around for a storm; and it did almost no lagging. Yay! :)
Before the lagging severity was a 8/10 for me, now it's a 3/10.

So no, the patch didn't wipe away the lag completely. The game will freeze up for a split-second during an autosave, & it still lags occasionally, albeit very rarely in comparison to the un-patched game.

As of now I'm happy about it. I hope it retains this level smoothness throughout.

Glad to see it got a patch. From a design standpoint Downpour is my favorite in the series but the poor optimization has kept me from playing it as much as the others.

*Sigh* The game just froze on me...
Whether it was the patch's fault or coincidence, I don't know... but prior to the patch Downpour never froze on me throughout my three playthrough's.

I think the patch actually made my game a bit worse. I've noticed a bit more lag and far more texture pop in than before.

The patch done nothing for my game. I think it made mine slightly worse actually, just like KiramidHead's.
