Why Did The Government Not Do Anything?

Heather finds out why it's true that you shouldn't talk to strangers. Or look in mirrors, quite honestly.

^Yeah, that was what I was trying to say, Aura, but you said it in better words than me. :) And, you know, coherent ones.

lots of law enforcement do have strong feelings of guilt and the like. you have the ones that may have killed a criminal, the ones that may have been too slow to save someone and all that.

True that, alessas angel, but if a whole bunch of law enforcement agents suddenly disappeared, it would bring in more and more investigators, and the White Claudia business would be found out, as well as the Cults' practices, and they didn't want that.

well considering Silent Hill in the real world is just a normal resort town, from the Government's point of view anyone who disappears are just normal disappearances, after all disappearances are quite common anywhere in America

I wouldn't say they're common, but they're the sort of thing that is handled by local authorities, not federal governments.

Where are the authorities throughout the games? Why don't we see any other people in the mall in the beginning besides Heather and Douglas? It's a plot hole, but a necessary one. You're supposed to feel alone in a Silent Hill game.

Cybil, Deputy Wheeler, and Adam Shepherd are authorities.

The Government did not do anything because they simply did not know.

The people who died, of course, could not do anything. And then the people who survived probably didn't want to tell. I mean, telling various people about the town of Silent Hill? They probably wouldn't believe the person (Like Heather, for instance). And if they did, sending a bunch of people into a cursed town that manifests their guilt and sins into an Otherworld? That would kill a lot of people, mainly police officers.

The second post in this thread established that very concept.

The only thing you'll get 'crap' for is not reading the thread before posting in it.

It's not a waste of your life to understand a conversation before contributing to it. If you think reading forum threads is a waste of time, you're free to leave.

What about Douglas? He's a detective. He is a authority as well, no?
