Good ol' Number Seven
I know there has already been a thread posted about Stanley, but it didn't answer my questions, so here we are. And, these things are bugging me...
+Ideas on Stanley+
-He is an Order member, just a lackie for the higher-ups.
-He was put into Brookhaven by a high-up member in the Order to keep him quiet. What does he know? *shrug* No idea, but he must know something that they can't let out.
-He was head-over-heels in love with Heather (who he knows to be Alessa), therefore, I conclude that he is really in love with Alessa, not Heather. But, he of course, talks to Heather, as Heather and Alessa are one in the same.
-He was killed outside of Brookhaven, so he managed to escape somehow. And, of course, Leonard Wolf was the one to kill him.
-His age at the time of death would be about 35 (based on how old Alessa is). If Alessa, had she not been reborn and everything, she would be about 31 (you get this info from the Happy Birthday phone call). But, since she has lost seven years, here and there, she is only 17, as Heather. The whole point of his age is that, Stanley is old enough to have been around since the beginning. Meaning, he probably was about 10 or 11 in Origins. I'm willing to bet that, if he was already "in love" with Alessa then, he most likely witnessed the ritual that Travis helped cause. Maybe he did, but he had to be around for the ritual in SH1 that recombined Alessa and Cheryl to form Heather (how else would he know SO much about Heather and that the fact that she IS Alessa). Besides, at that time, he would be about 19, so he would understand what he was seeing.
-One theory about Stanley states that he is "the Man who offered a serpent to the sun and prayed for salvation." And, most fans assume that Alessa is the woman who "offered a reed to the sun and asked for joy." Claudia's speech continues to say that "god was born from these two people." If this theory is true, then it proves Alessa and Stanley's love, but also the fact that they brought about the original god through love, and they want to do it again. But, Dahlia and (later) Claudia have different ideas.
-My thinking is, based on the theory, if Stanley is the man in the painting, then him and Alessa are in love, and want god to be born through love again. But, it keeps getting put off by Dahlia and Claudia. So, my theory on this is that in SH3, Stanley wanted to so badly meet Heather so that he could kill her. Why? To stop god's birth through pain. He failed becuase Leonard killed him and we never met Stanley. This, I believe, leads to the Memory of Alessa battle because since Stanley did screw up, it was now up to Alessa to kill her "new self" and keep god from being born. But, of course, she failed as well.
So, that's most of the key points I have on Stanley, and I just need them to be confirmed, proven to be false, whatever, so that I can get all the facts straight.
Also (and I know this is getting REALLY long) I also have a tiny theory about Stanley's death that is probably false, but it seems to fit:
Stanley is the one that died by decapitation at the subway. Heather reads the newspaper about it that says that some eye-witnesses say he jumped and others say he was pushed. Leonard could've easily snuck up behind him and pushed him off the tracks. Or, being a chicken, Stanley could've seen Leonard coming, know there was no way out of his inevitable death, and he just jumped.
The newspaper says that the dead guy had black hair, was slender, and dressed in a leather jacket (if I remember correctly). My vision of Stanley was something like Vincent, only iwth black hair and no glasses, so the description fits about 1/3 of the way.
And, we know Stanley died outside of the hospital, but as he ends up in Brookhaven's morgue, I doubt he would've been killed outside of Silent Hill. And, the subway is in Portland, where Heather lives with Harry. Stanley would've traveled outside of SH to go find Heather on his own (perhaps he was tired of waiting for her to come to him) but, then how did his body wind up in Brookhaven?
Also, SH3 never tells who the ghost is, and very rarely is anything through into the series for no reason. Everything has a valid point, you just have to figure it out. And, this would explain the subway killing's importance. And, his ghost pushed Heather off the tracks with an assumed attempt to kill her by the train. If Stanley's idea was to kill Heather, why not let his ghost handle it and kill her the same way Leonard killed him.
It makes sense, yes? But, if it can't be proven wrong, tell me someone is thinking along those same lines...
Yay! Let the conversation being...

I think I can agree that Stanely is the man in the painting, but I don't think he was the ghost. I heard somewhere that the ghost is purely optional and doesn't have anything to do with the plot line. I think the ghost was meant to be an easter egg. But, it could be possible that it was Stanley, by all means. Maybe it was.

It's theorized by other camps of the fandom, though, that WALTER is the male in that myth, and that the only true way for God to be born is to combine the two rituals.-One theory about Stanley states that he is "the Man who offered a serpent to the sun and prayed for salvation." And, most fans assume that Alessa is the woman who "offered a reed to the sun and asked for joy." Claudia's speech continues to say that "god was born from these two people." There's not a whole lot to go by with Stanley except those diary entries. Even the supplementary materials hardly talks about him...
I think that Stanley may be the person that Leonard stabbed over a religious dispute, and that Stanley was thrown into Brookhaven along with Leonard to keep quiet about it. When you think of it that way, some things may start to make sense. Stanley is the only character in Silent Hill 3 which Leonard has a problem enough to kill, and it's consistent with stabbing someone over a religious dispute. Stanley himself explains that he has given Leonard the motive to do so. It may also be important for the Order to shut both of them into Brookhaven so that they'll keep quiet about the incident. The Concord magazine does support that the Order tries to keep their activities a secret.
Stanley does not know about "Alessa," actually, because he states in his entry to Heather that he never knew her name or what she looked like until that day that she set her foot in Brookhaven. I don't think Stanley grew up with Alessa.

He states though that she has 'flowing dark hair' in one of his entries. Don't his dolls kinda resemble Alessa? And the note on his room says 'Sometimes shows and acts an obsessive attachment to a particular woman'.Burning Man wrote:Stanley does not know about "Alessa," actually, because he states in his entry to Heather that he never knew her name or what she looked like until that day that she set her foot in Brookhaven.
And I doubt that Stanley is the man in that myth.

No, that's part of a poem by Eric, and it's supposed to be a hint for us specifically. If Stanley were talking about Alessa's appearance in his entry, then he would have been taken back with Heather's current appearance.PartyHard wrote:He states though that she has 'flowing dark hair' in one of his entries.

Well played.AuraTwilight wrote:Who says it has to be anyone at all?
It may just be some random fanatical cult member (boy, was that redundant).

Yeah, Stanley doesn't get nearly as much love as he deserves... he's pretty important to the plot of the game.RiceDaddy7 wrote:Great thread. Stanley needs to be discussed more.
By the way, who's the guy who calls Heather and wishes her a happy birthday? It's not Stanley or Leonard. Was it Vincent?
Most people think the phone call is Vincent. He says he's not Leonard ("That's the murderer's name") and we know he's not Stanley ("I'm not your beloved Stanley, either!"). Course, that's if you want to trust him... ^^ It doesn't sound like Vincent, so I just think it's some random cult member meant to scare the pants off you...

Because it's Silent Hill; nothing is ever "random". Especially that.AuraTwilight wrote:Who says it has to be anyone at all?
But then again...the elevator quiz announcer was random.
It actually kinda does, but it wouldn't make sense for Vincent to call Heather saying that.ValTanner wrote:It doesn't sound like Vincent...

No, the Trick or Treat gameshow host was none other than comedian/TV personality Louie Anderson.RiceDaddy7 wrote:Because it's Silent Hill; nothing is ever "random". Especially that.

Jeez. Do your research.

Re: Good ol' Number Seven
I think that the voice of the Locker Room is in fact leonard. And (hate me if you want), after playing the HD Collection, i relized it was very, very possible:
When you reach Brookhaven, you can read a memo that says that Leonard has mild schizophrenia.
The schizophrenia could have gotten worse after the note was written, specially because of his obsession of being the knight of honor, the protector of the seal.
The "Im not your beloved Stanley, either!" phrase sounded like it was definitive, but, on the other hand, the "that's the murderer's name, not my name" sounded like if he was "playing" with the words (don't know how to describe it exactly).
This is mostly noticeable in SH3: HD Collection, where his voice actor ACTUALLY CHANGES his voice tone when he says that phrase, like if he was leonard AND the caller (schizophrenia - multiple personalities). The voice in the locker room doesnt sound like leonard at all, but when someone has schizophrenia, one can change his voice tone to "swap personalities".
So, this is my theory. Thanks! (and sory if my english isnt very good, it isnt my original language).
