yes. very pleased

Heather finds out why it's true that you shouldn't talk to strangers. Or look in mirrors, quite honestly.

It shows you everything it has, it's not particularly interesting or anything you haven't seen before, it takes your money and leaves you with nothing more than you came in with.

It also suffers from having every single ending being stupid. I can't decide which one to consider canon, because I hate them all.
I agree with you 100% on this one and that’s why to me SH3 is the weakest of the SH games. The game visually was gorgeous, but story wise...after 5 minutes of playing it I already knew what to expect of the story and how it would all end, since the story its so predictable/straightforward (Although the Harry scene I didn’t expected that at all, but everything else is your typical Hollywood story).

Drewfus wrote:Oh, Chris, I disagree with you on Heather. She's easily the best protagonist of not only SH, but I'd hazard saying she's the best survival horror protagonist of all time. It was the rest of the game that rubbed me the wrong way.

Heather has a personality. Harry and Henry could have been replaced by the Prince from Katamari Damacy and really it wouldn't have made much of an impact on the story. James is cool, but he's also, you know, crazy.
Well I never said you disliked Heather.Anyways,I just don't think she fit in SH universe. She acted like the things going on weren't there.I think she's easily the worst charecter, but to each thier own.I also disliked her sarcasistic tone.I liked James because he acted like how someone in his situiation would.James being crazy is why I love him, nobody every tries that in games.

Alright. Let's just agree that Henry was boring. :P

When I played part one, the only thing that I could enjoy about it is the story. After playing Silent Hill 2, the graphics just seemed to be crap. And it is, but still back then I'm sure it was the top game of it's time.

I like those guys! That sound scares the crap of me. I started on number 3 so I'll always love it even after playing some of the others too. AS for the story being weak...I don't know, for a contiuation off of number 1...not too bad. I like the fact you control a girl (a hot one at that!) and even the more closed up ending was welcome. The mythology was fine considering we've all had to speculate over all the others. SH3 kicks ass! I don't care what anyone says, that was $20 well spent!
yay!

heh, i boought it for $14.00....

oh and that sound scared the crap out of me too!

Which is exactly my problem with her.SH is susposed to be serious. She was running around like a female Dante.I was waiting for her to pull out a 5 foot sword and two glocks.Just my opinion ;)

I like Heather, though James will always be favourite. I prefer Heather over Henry any day. Not that I dislike SH4 in general, but I thought Heather at least has characteristics.

What's with the Heather bashing? She's far more emotional then any other characters, she's different to look at, and she's not that cocky and her attitude fits just fine with Silent Hill. It's just different because she's female, younger, and not a depressed mope. I don't like James for that reason. He's got no passion for anything. A whiney bitch if you ask me. Heather forever!

I could honestly care less about her being a girl.I loved playing as Maria in the short story. When does James whine? If anybody bitches it's Heather,"Oh I'm not going in there with that creep".Give me a break. You'd rather run around in a hell filled place BY YOUR SELF.She was sarcastic and her attitude didn't fiot Silent Hill,at least how I look at it.James is depressed. He's different. What other game charecter is like that.None.They are all badasses(aside from Harry and Henry of SH).I guess we can agree on one thing,White Zombie kicks ass. :P

heather is the most emotional of the 4 main characters, she shouts, blames, cries and more...

James is cool, he is a little coward and nervous man; I still without understand how could beat Pyramid Head when he almost soil his panmts with his first patient demon..

Henry... Well, this guy is... WHAT THE HELL?? Is a nice guy. a little quiet but at least he did his job...

Harry... He was the only who didn't bother in get scared... He just went to find huis daughter and exterminated everything that tried stop him... He is the less real but is the most valiant cause he never thought in his own security, he always tried protect the others (Cheryl, Cybil, Lisa and finally Alessa)

James doesn't act as scared of it as Heather acts when she meets the first Closer. So with that logic, how'd she beat "the god"?James also shouts cries, blames, gets angry, and more. Also the way James acted was fine, what would you of done?Heather's scene was also well done, probably the most believeable scene with her.He and Heather show about the same emotion in cutscenes, except James fit well.He is a lonely man,who goes out of his way through hell to find his wife.Which he certianly isn't a coward.Heathers voice actor was good,I just didn't like alot of her lines. While I played through SH2 I felt for James, his plight. In SH3 I was looking for a "turn heather's mouth off switch".I just like how humble James was.

As far as Harry and Henry.I liked them more than Heather, but they were little more than tools for the story.

HUMBLE! No I say that's a lack of emotion and character. A weak and whiney bitch who couldn't stand to stick by his wife and offed her then forgot the whole damn thing and created this huge mental facade where only after going through all of Silent Hill only to screw up his chance of redemption by screwing it up 3/4 endings. Personnally given his character of weakness the Rebirth ending seems like the real one to me. Idiot never learned his lesson like in pet cemetary style. He's a fool and an unlikable character and I laughed at him when I saw the In Water ending. I like the game and this will be my third re-play.

SH2 SPOILERS AHEAD.

It's obvious you didn't play attention to SH2.Perhaps next time you play it you should take Astro Creep out of the CD player and pay attention :P .Why should every game charecter be some billy badass.Games will never get out of thier kiddy/kill fest image if all charecters are smack talking badasses. If you thought James lacked emotion, you musta A)Been high B)Pressed start with each cutscene.James shows more realitic emotion than any game charecter in any game so far(Solid/Naked Snake are contenders though).Cutscenes like the first Prison scene,Maria's first...well you know....,the tape scene and The final PHead show down all show great emotion from the charecter.Nothing agianst you,but I see you just didn't "get" SH2.Your "James was a weak and whiney bitch who couldn't stick by his wife" statement gives me this conclusion. The story is about a man being punished for his sins, and it shows that good and bad is a a black and white thing.James killed his wife, because he was tired of suffering, but also tired of her suffering. Was he really weak?In some ways yes, human beings are weak.Riddle me this though. If James was so weak, then why didn't he just kill her and move on?No,he instead went through hell and back to be with her.I hate to see you rip his charecter apart when it was so well done, but perhaps I'm doing the same with Heather. To each his own I guess.I've played through SH3 3 times and SH2 6 I think.

Oh and when Heathers you know what died,I laughed.I never really liked that dumb bastard anyways. :P

Yuppers. :D

As for James, while I personally don't agree with it, one could definitely interpret him as whiny and selfish.

Wow. To each their own I guess, but I loved 3. Particularly for the exploration of the cult's beliefs and background. Plus, I really got a kick out of seeing the special outfits in the cutscenes; that was sweet. (God of Thunder was my favorite)

And one thing some people may want to keep in mind is that Heather is the only teenaged protagonist in the series. Teenagers whine; it's what they do. As far as the badass sassy attitude in the face of imminent death, that I could have done without. Didn't really bother me though. 8)

They don't need to be a billy badass I just thought compared to the other characters his whole "I killed my wife because I could bear her suffering then forgot about it" deal was kind of lame compared to say Heather who fights for the truth about herself and perhaps revenge for her dad and Harry to find his daughter. I did play the game, I didn't skip cinema's, and I did "get" the point of SH2 but I can still say he comes off as a bitch because whoever did his voice sucked, and as for the final speech it was delivered poorly. I think that's the basis of my beef with James. REALLY CRAPPY VOICE ACTING!

AS for your Final Statement...Well that's just blasphemous!

I guess I'm the only one who found his voice acting convincing. And no one can say crappy voice acting without mentioning RE.

Alright, we're all kind of going around in circles with fanboy wank rhetoric. Let's just agree to disagree.

Actually, I adore James' voice acting, with one exception - there's one line in the
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
speech to the Pyramid Heads
that just sounded awful. However, with that aside, I think it's some of the best voice acting that I've heard, and I even start the game sometimes just to here his opening spiel.
