Written on IMDb (and please don't flame me for hoping this is true):
Quote:
Casting is underway, Director to be announced soon, Filming returns to Hamilton in Toronto, Canada to front as Silent Hill... and finally the cameras will roll on June 14th until August with an expected release of May 2011. The plot wasn't revealed, but is supposed to be an adapted version of the third game and that the story will continue into the 3rd film's installment- basically stating the third games plot/story is being adapted and told in two films (if the second does well) in this case "Silent Hill 2" and "Silent Hill 3" could be an epic horror tale if done right, and could both possibly be done in 3D.

Link- cannot provide, but I assure you that this is correct news. You can look back at my history and see that I was correct about the trailer/site/photo news for "Resident Evil: Afterlife" before the information was released on any site (officially)
Incase you wish to know, I am connected with someone within Sony's Screen Gems Division, and I receive e-mail updates from time to time about films I am interested in particularly.

UPDATE::: I am also told that Sony Screen Gems will now be taking over the next two sequels' distributor in the U.S. and Canada. Backing the film again are Konami and Davis Films with an estimated budget of $75,000,000 to 80,000,000 which is slightly more than the first films budget. Part 2 is infact filming in 3D and may even get an IMAX release is RE4 does well in IMAX this fall.

I looked through the user's posting history and she was able to give a to the day release date for the trailer for RE and dates on releases of stills, so there might be something there...

I'm going to take this information with a grain of salt, but if it is true then I just creamed.

Sounds interesting. Let's see what happens. If this film is about Silent Hill 3, though, I wonder how they'll adapt it since they didn't really do a true adaptation of the first game.

A lot of it meshes with what we already know (i.e., filming this spring, SH3 adaptation, etc.), so I'm hoping it's true.

Well, this is great news. I really want a 3D Silent Hill, it wouldn't hurt. And plus, my sister is the manager at a theater, so (you guessed it) free screenings for me.

This also better be right, it seems like the writer is "showing off" at how accurate he/she is. I'm serious, I have Rosie O'Donnell (vagina ready) and a pitchfork at my side, and I'm ready to send either one to do the kill.

Ha, Hamilton isn't in Toronto it's like a 40 minute drive but I might get a chance to see some of the sets! If I can get any pictures i'll post them for sure!

I'm damn sure everyone around here already knew/assumed that.
Good news though.

And what is this 3D shit now? Every movie must have it for the sake of some people. Bleh.

SH in 3D is not just uncalled for, it's out of place. What's with the sudden 3D-trend... it'll become an obstacle for certain films.

i am sure it would be just me, but I would love for the new movie to be "grainy"
Not crystal clear and sharp, but either foggy or grainy

My god I hope this is accurate news!!!! it's been far too long since the last one! I hope it's good. But I don't want it to be in 3D....3D is over used, and I got a feeling that if it is 3D it will just be a gimmick.

But hey, this is some good news. Now lets hope Konami or Sony back it up!

Do you mean holograms, or 3D without glasses, because if you mean the latter, they already did. Although I think a 3D SH film would be fantastic, I'd rather they spend more money on set and monster design.

I think that sounds pretty epic, but I'm not sure how they'd span SH3 across two films, unless the first ones just about her getting to Silent Hill?

3-D can be awesome if used well. Hopefully it's not like they use it in RE4 and more like in Avatar.

I for one am enjoying the 3-D and I whole heartedly welcome it with good direction in Silent Hill. Hopefully they shoot and don't post convert the 3-D.

Besides, if you don't want to see it in 3-D, it will definately be playing in 2-D as well, so everyone wins.

Practically all horror movies are going 3-D now. 3-D is making significant amounts of money, and it's not just due to the uptick in ticket price. Audiences by and large prefer the 3-D experience in theatres. So that's why, and horror is a popular genre for it.

As for these rumors... I'm highly doubting they'd take the chance of stretching out Sh3 into two movies... but I do love the idea!

If I was still in Toronto, I'd have snuck around and tried to sneak some images in.
