The sequel is SH3? How will they do this and keep the story?

I'm just wondering (and didn't see it posted on here, if it is already this can be removed) how they are going to pull this off?
The first movie (what I remember of it) there was no Harry Mason, however it was the basic storyline but had combined the elements from the games (i.e. pyramid head, the changing worlds etc) It seemed to me like they had taken bits of every game and put it into the movie, but it looks like the sequel is creating SH3 into a film. My question is how are they going to do this when in the third game Heather was Cheryl, many many years later, and there was no mother, but in the first film, we had the mother instead of Harry. How are they going to keep the story going? Or is it going to be that only someone who knows the games well will understand?
