*Spoiler* Peter Outerbridge's character confirmed

Post by JKristine35 »

The marketing team have again updated the IMDb cast list, showing various new extras and... Travis Grady. Guess he's the cameo Bassett was talking about.

I thought this was already known a while ago, a little after Guy Cihi was apparently going to make a cameo as well? Or am I mixing the two memories together? I'm pretty sure mention of Travis or some other cameo was made at some previous point.

^We talked about a possible Travis. It was never confirmed. The Guy Cihi stuff was apparently he wanted on the bandwagon and well...that bandwagon crashed and burned.

Peter Outerbridge is a fantastic actor. I really hope he gets more screentime than just being a cameo, it would be a waste of talent if he doesn't.

Speaking of cameos... check out Map section on the Revelation official site. There is a short clip with police cars heading into Silent Hill. Well, who knows, maybe we gonna see Gucci again? :)

Unless we see him again for a possible sequel, you never know. One of the reviews game some spoilers about the ending
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
Douglas stays in SH to look for his wife and doesnt want Heather's help, leaving her to exit the town alongside Vincent, and that's when the police cars decide to come in
Perhaps Travis comes back to guide
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
Douglas
and we learn his side of the story.

Every bit of that is false. That review was from someone who didn't see the film or it was just a theory before it's release.

Not all of that is false. The major problem is though that
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
it is Harry/Chris, not Douglas. He however does tell
Heather to leave and go live a normal life.
Travis
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
is indeed just a cameo. He picks up the chracters at the end, and mentions that "he hasn't been this way in a long time." Guessing they are hinting at doing a prequel.
However the police cars
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
have nothing to do with the plot either. Although it looks like the police should be headed for Silent Hill, once the police show up at the Mason house, they never get seen again. The police cars seen heading into town at the end of the film are escorting a prison bus, hinting at Silent Hill Downpour.

Travis:

He's just a cameo, something there for the fans; I wouldn't expect him to be in any significant role in a later film, at this point.
Police:
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
The police chase absolutely wouldn't fit into the film if they'd kept up with that plot thread. It's a way to create a sense of urgency for Heather to leave, and they're still chasing after her at the end of the film (as we see them going to Silent Hill). To cut back to them in the middle of her trying to find her father would not only make the pacing worse but also make no sense and I personally think it'd be really, really cheesy.

I actually didn't mean I thought the police chase was needed or would have worked. I was just pointing out that the police just kind of disappear an dI figured they would have at least tried to show up in the town. But I wouldn't have liked if they did. And the police at the end were escorts for the prison bus, not cops intending to look for Heather.

Excuse me if I'm wrong, but
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
I thought Heather's "take us as far away from here as you can" to Travis at the end of the movie was referencing how she is now going to hide from the police.

I'm very sure she is. However
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
I am saying that the police cars at the end are very clearly escorting a prison bus, so these are not the police that would be entering Silent Hill to search for Heather.

Neither the Downpour nod nor the Origins nod make much sense when you think about it.
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
This movie tries to imply there is power to the town unrelated to Alessa and it traps people in a personal hell, attempting to bring it closer to the games universe. But in the movie universe they still go with the town being an abandoned ghost town that's remote and out of the way, a place it's forbidden to go to. See, in the games Silent Hill is a regular populated town, so it makes sense that a trucker or prison transport would pass through there. Why would either be there in this movie? Why is Travis coming from Silent Hill if he hadn't been there in a long time? Why is the prison transport heading to an isolated and abandoned ghost town with a coal mine fire causing ash to fall from the sky or whatever? That would never happen.
