Will you buy this when it is released on DVD/BluRay?

Post by Number 7 »

I wanted to make a thread on this topic because I bought the original Silent Hill movie and have watched it several times despite it not being all that good. There are still some parts I liked, the whole thing was shot very well, and at the time I was like "hey, it's Silent Hill so of course I'll get it."

But I'm pretty sure I won't be picking this movie up when it's released. There was almost NOTHING that I liked about it. It being a Silent Hill movie isn't good enough, just like I haven't bought the earlier SH comics just for being SH related. I don't even think the behind the scenes extras will be enough to get a rental out of me.

So my question is will you be buying this when it's released?

I probably will, since I had some fun watching it in theaters.

First off I want to say the first movie was incredible. I have no idea why people hate it so much... it was a very great and well done movie slightly based off the first game.

Revelation on the other hand was a mess of bad acting and rushed story telling. I do give 100% props to the set designers of the movie. They were VERY well done and beutifull, but when crappy souless CGI and bad acting get in the way of the sets it's just a disaster.

ANYWAY...
I bought the first movie and love it. I will NOT be buying revelation. just stream it on netflix if it ever makes it that far lol

I'm not going to bother. I can't see me ever watching it again.

I'll be getting the bluray, only if it has enough special features to get me to buy it. Otherwise I'll just catch it on netflix or something.

I'm wondering if they'll do a box set. I'd like one of those. Even for those who didn't like it I think the DVD will be worth renting for special features etc. if they don't skimp on them, and based on what I've read about the super fast editing and photos of unused scenes, there may be an extended cut.

I'm definitely going to be buying it, mainly because then I'll finally be able to see it, though the reaction here makes me wonder if it's worth it.

I'll wait until it comes out on DVD, borrow it from some place like Redbox, then I'll decide from there if it's worth buying.

Yes because I am unable to watch it at the cinema.

But it will be DVD I always considered blu ray a waste of money the TV makes more of a difference than the disk.

It's strange that the negativity wins out for people on the fence. Those who are angry are more vocal but the poll is exactly even.

I certainly will. I thought it was a blast, even though it had many imperfections.

I'm going to wait until I can get it for under $15, just because I really liked the Mannequin and Nurse scenes and that's it.

I'm hoping for some quality special features. I want to see what happened to the Rose scene we have a screenshot of. And a director's commentary, would you kindly?

I will buy it because I thought it was fine and would be willing to watch it more than twice.

Only because I want a sequel and some commentary, like what Gans did. Maybe even for the occasional boredom-flick, probably once or twice a year if I have nothing better to watch.

Probably not. It was an okay movie. I generously gave it a 7/10 probably because I wanted to believe so well that this movie would be good. Any extra DVD/Blu-Ray content will be leaked to a site where you can watch it for free, anyway. Why bother?
