Anyone else really excited for the character creation?

Post by Lostkitsune »

This is something I've sort of thought about since I got into the series. I just think it would be really cool to sort of self-insert yourself in the story and I know BoM is getting a lot of hate even though it hasn't been released yet, but I think a fun spin-off title like this will be really fun.
Anyway do we know how in depth the customization is for characters? I've seen some reviews but they leave out a lot of information and stuff.
I'm hoping for a variety of outfits, hair/eye color and some small body customizations.

Eyes are too small most of the time to be worth changing, but you get all your other wishes.

Of course. I expect a deep character creation with different options for hairs, shirts, jackets, pants, skirts, etc... The ability to change the color of an outfit, hair color, eye color, skin color, too... It isn't much to ask.

I hope the character creator has a "messed up back-story" slider!

Never been a big character creation person, but I look forward to seeing what all options they offer.

That would rock. Something like "Personal events that your character went through" and we have several options from "I'm just looking for my daughter. Short. Black hair." to "I killed someone and I forgot about it!"

^Maybe you could mix those up. "I smothered my daughter with short, black hair with a pillow and forgot about it."
"He's underground now. His new name is Number Seven."

I've actually got some Silent Hill OCs I'd like to create and port in there, more than myself, but once I get through that silliness I'd certainly go and plop myself in there. Customizability is something that's very important to me in these types of games, and from recent screen shots it looks passable. They don't give us too much of a peek, though, so we'll have to see just how extensive it is and I'm excited to mess around with it!

In MMOs in particular, customizability tends to be a selling point for me. If I can't customize my character to my precise physical specifications then I get bored VERY quickly. I don't see that being a problem with this so much because it's still a Silent Hill game and I still aim to have fun with it but I definitely will be disappointed if it's lacking.

Gotta admit, though, some personality and backstory customizing wouldn't hurt, I'd just hope it was more original than the previous jokes.

It's like The Sims meets WoW meets Silent Hill, from the footage I've seen. At least, that's the vibe I get. One monster I saw was pushing major fantasy-game thoughts my way. Not really against this multiplayer thing for Silent Hill - I just feel that it wouldn't satisfy me as a Silent Hill game because the experience will certainly be removed from the titles I've enjoyed most in the franchise.

Either way, I know I'd definitely have fun playing it. But I won't be able to play it, at least not any time soon after it's release, so I'll have to just rely on footage and responses. Or find a buddy with a Vita that I can steal, er, play it with.

I hope clothing can be selected, and if so, I hope it's varied.

If I get the game, character creation might end being my favorite part. I spent 30-45 minutes creating a character in Skyrim. :)

This game is the only reason I'm considering trading in my PSP Go for a Vita. The whole concept of character creation in Silent Hill almost has me sold. I might wait until the game is released or more information about the character creation is revealed.

I've seen some videos on the game and I check back weekly for more.

Fingers crossed for complex CC!

The character customization from the screenshots I've seen seems a bit over the top for my taste. Almost Saints Row levels of wacky.

Just another thing about this game that feels "off".

How cool would it be if we could get clothing from previous protagonists? James' military jacket, Travis' trucker attire (plaid shirt, vest, hat etc.), Murphy's Ryall State uniform, and so on.

I thought the same thing. The goofy glasses and other accessories are fun, but what if everyone's dressing up like a kids show host? That might cheapen the experience for some.
