Re: New Silent Hill game teaser
This is freaking nuts, isn't it? What an amazing teaser. Not even revealing what it is or who made it until the end, just blowing everybody's minds like that. I mean wow. This has really turned things around, and those names attached to it? Absolutely stunning, I thought it was a joke at first because it's almost too perfect.

Damn, I got ninja'd. But I'd love for this to be a real thing. Konami should make the next game in house instead of outsourcing it to yet another dev.

You missed having the older thread by a minute.
This really came out of nowhere. Don't know what to think yet.

To be fair, your topic title was a lot better than mine. I was just surprised nobody posted a topic for this sooner.aj4x94 wrote:Damn, I got ninja'd.

This is more outrageous than some of the gag Silent Hill April Fool's day announcements I've seen. I love it! Almost too good to be true.

Re: New Silent Hill game teaser
I'm downloading that "P.T." thing right now to see what it's like. I saw the teaser for it and assumed it was some youtube fodder pewdiepie-bait with the clips of people screaming and all. Had no idea it would be a stealth Silent Hill reveal.
So, it's Kojima after all. And Del Toro too? I'm excited. I'm cautious about what they're interpretation of the series will be like, and I'm still not sure he's the right man for the job, but I AM a fan of Kojima and obviously Silent Hill so I'm excited.

Mind... absolutely shattered. This is more than I expected. If they get Akira in there or even Daniel Licht I will cry in joy.
The series has needed this for the last decade. And I'm one of those crazy people that love all the games.

Fast forward to an hr. and watch the video from there. It looks there will be a big focus on the paranormal this time around! Also, do I see co-op in the future?

Guys, I'm playing the demo on my PS4 right now, and I, a hardened horror veteran, am absolutely terrified. This is frightening in ways I can't even begin to describe. I screamed like PewDiePie and embarassed myself in front of my GF, and I've actually paused it to take a break. This is absolutely horrifying, I am kind of blown away.

I really want to see how they pull this off. The look of the Otherworld, the main character himself and how he plays into the events of the game, or if it's his hell we'll be exploring.
Will it be combat heavy or will Kojima inject stealth elements into this installment?

So far (I've still been too scared to even finish the demo) it feels like a cross between David Lynch (blatant Eraserhead reference in the middle), Silent Hill 4's room sections, and the most terrifying shit I've ever experienced in my freaking life.

Re: New Silent Hill? Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro pro
Wait, Distant, we can download the demo right now?!?!?!?!?!
Based on the few minutes I caught from the demo, it looks The Room's 1st person elements will be added to this game. Also, guys, notice that the title is spelled "Silent Hills" with an 'S' at the end. They're referencing a plural environment, so could that mean that the Otherworld is spreading beyond the town's borders? We've seen from previous titles such as 4 that the Otherworld does have the potential to spread to areas near and around Silent Hill. If the title's spelling meas that others areas are being cursed, that leads me to wonder how far it could (and has) spread.

Wow, so happy to see Konami handling this internally. I love the fact that SIlent Hills can also be interprested as a 5, meaning Silent Hill 5. Please gods, let this one be a good game!

Re: New Silent Hill? Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro pro
I'm playing it right now myself and, yeah, I'm pretty terrified. Note, however, that I've gone on record saying I haven't found any of the previous Silent Hill games to be that scary. This is definitely a HUGE departure in terms of style, tone, and atmosphere compared to any past Silent Hill game. Who knows how much this will represent the final product, though. There has only been one jump scary so far, but I'm not too crazy aboutDistantJ wrote:Guys, I'm playing the demo on my PS4 right now, and I, a hardened horror veteran, am absolutely terrified. Just why? Why the fuck did it have to be goddamn Kojima? Of all the people why that hack? Jesus...
Re: New Silent Hill? Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro pro
As long as Kojima doesn't do any writing I'm ok with it, Del Toro being part of the project has some potential. Not a big fan of using a big actor to do/model the main character, it's feels like they're trying to shove a 'cinematic feeling' down our throats, games aren't and never will be movies, trying to pretend they are cheapens the media.
