Silent Hill: Homecoming freezing problem *Possible spoilers*

I apologise in advance if this isn't where this thread should be, but it seemed like the most appropriate place. Basically I have just completed the sewer section of the game, and I am on my way to Fitch's office. I have gone into the building, searched the room full of childrens toys, but every time I try to leave, the game freezes. I have tried it 3 times just to rule out whether or not it was a random glitch, but it's happened every time. The whole thing just totally freezes, and I can't even access the PS3 interface to quit the game.

Has this happened to anyone else at any point, and how did you resolve the problem? I considered maybe trying a system update and then trying, just on the off chance. I'd really appreciate anyone's help, as I can't advance in the game if this keeps happening. Thanks in advance!

(Also just a bit of extra information, in case it is relevant. I am playing the NTSC version of the game on a PAL console, but I have no had any errors previously.)

same things hapening to me on my 3rd playthrough maybe you should just let it rest for a while?try again 2marrow then if it dosnt work call customer support?

Yeah I've switched it off. I'll try it again tomorrow, and do a system update. Hopefully it'll be ok. Was the freezing for you in the same place as mine?

Well, it's pretty comforting to know that it's not just me that this is happening to. If this is a problem for a lot of people, the hopefully there might be a patch released soon.

examining them twice for me made it freeze

I had it freeze on me twice. Once somewhere in Hell's Descent and then again when I was fighting Scarlet. When it froze on Scarlet it was more of the controls because Alex just kept walking forward but once Scarlet hit me I was able to move again.
