Silent Hill 4 pc help

Post by ecks »

My game crashes once I get to the part of the train station where Henry will see Cynthia's things were scattered around. When I get to the door to open it. Henry Stopped moving. I waited for 5 hours and he was till not moving. I believe that the game crashed.

I believe that I completed all of the minimum requirements.

Is the game freezing or something? Or only Henry's not moving at all?! If the game works well for the first time and then it didn't later, there is a problem with your mouse, EXACTLY what happened with mine when I was playing Tomb Raider Underworld!

It sounds like the file that contains the next cutscene is damaged. Are you playing from a disc? Is it scratched at all? Even if it's scratched and you don't install the videos on your hard drive, the file is still corrupted.

But I could be wrong! Still, take a look at your disc's condition-- maybe try getting it cleaned (a gentle wipe with a disc-safe cloth might do the trick) and then try. Removing the movies might just make it freeze because the game will search for a file that cannot be found.

How scratched is your disc? My Final Fantasy XII disc is heavily scratched and sometimes when going to a new location it will just.. stop working.

If you can, I would reccomend finding a disc buffing service. Once I got a DDR game was only lightly scratched, but the scratch prevented a song from loading. I went to a buffing service (it was like.. a dollar) and it started working again.

EDIT i kan spel

^ Did you try to go and get it buffed? I know that the Game Crazy places connected to Hollywood Video have that particular service avaliable and it's really quite inexpensive.

Are you still using the CD or not?

If not, since you have the original copy, you should try without using the CD (and you know how).

If SH4 freezes even without the CD than the problem could be a little more "complicated" because we have to understand which factor is the cause of this issue.

And by the way which OS do you have?

I doubt it would be a computer specs problem, since the rest of the game ran fine up until then. They look fine to me, anyway.

I suppose it's too late to return it somewhere and ask for another copy? Out of curiosity, what does the back of the CD look like to you? Are there minor scratches, no scratches, a couple deep scratches...?
