Downpour "Surgery Key" help (spoilers, maybe)

I'm having a lot of trouble getting the key out of the Screamer monster in St. Maria's. How do you know when you're close to it's exact location? I thought her screams would be a good indicator but that's not working.

I found that, even when I thought I had it, I didn't, so just pressing X whenever you feel a slightly harder vibration will only lead to more frustration. Dig around, try to find the hardest vibration you can, and then sit on it for a second (hold your joystick in place) before pressing X to grab the key or else he'll just keep pulling his arm back out.

I was waiting until either the middle or end of the vibration but I had no luck. I decided to try to grab it as soon as the vibration started and it finally worked for me.
