Read error on my SH Homecoming CD

When I try to install SH Homecoming,the CD installs everything but the near the end I get the message
Read error in the file E:\Silent Hill Homecoming.part1.exe
Did anyone else get this message?

How scratched is the disc, and have you tried cleaning it?

It didn't look very scratched when I got the error for the first time

That link should help out on cleaning DVDs.
The only other thing I can think of is making sure your operating system is compatible with the game, like if your OS on the box matches the OS the computer is running, that sort of thing.
