Post subject: Suggestion for a "like" button |

Could we now or sometime in the future see a like button on here? I think it would be a great idea, plus i could see it helping to cut down on one word post. I know there have been plenty of times where i see a post and i want to just say "i liked that post" and nothing more. I mean like the post is not necessarily something i want to put in the quotable section but i still enjoyed it. I would definitely use it, and i could really see it being useful. Plus facebook uses it so it's gotta be a great idea!

If it's not to difficult, I'll thrown in my hat for "demand." There are more than a few posts that I think deserve a "like," but I don't have enough to add to really respond to them. As cold as I can be, it makes me come off a lot colder than I would like.

I have felt the same way as Springs, though I could care less if we have a like button or not.

It would definitely cut down on potential spam. if it's possible, I'd be all for it. Great suggestion, babe.

I've seen something similar on another forum, in the form of a "Say thanks" button. It was placed under the poster's avatar and info.
It was something like "This user has been thanked 10 times for this post"

As someone who's been a lurker/part-time member but daily browser of these forums for many years now, I'd have to agree this would be a most welcome addition. There's a lot of speculation and insight on these forums I agree on or like, but it's quite rare I feel the urge to give further insight or input to what's already being said. The addition of something like this would be something I could see participating in more regularly, and it would help to cut down a lot on spam, as others have said.

I must be the only one against it then, I believe this could turn around with even more spam. "Who disliked my comment!?" "Why?? Are you against my opinion?" and might begin flame wars.
Fortunately this is a mature 17+ forum, and this might not happen, but we've seen kids infiltrate the forum earlier, thankfuly they were "clever" enough to tell us their real age..

^I can agree with that. It could cause members to get a little hissy, which is totally un needed. However, I doubt there would be a dislike button equivalent, if a like button is to be added.
I still stand where I stand earlier. I could care less about the button. I'm neutral. Add it, I don't care, don't add it, still don't care.

What are you talking about? Do you really think anybody on here would act like that? I doubt it, people like that are definitely in the minority here. Also there is no "dislike" button just a "like" button. I really don't know many people on here that really get hissy like that especially over something so trivial.

Yeah I've seen people going nuts over things like this. Doubt the "main" crowd would act like this, I mean the people who actively enjoy the forum. However newcomers, or certain other people might take this a bit too seriously.
Someone also mentioned spam, so I assumed there was a "Dislike" button.
Just a Like button would be nice.

^Regarding the whole spam stuff, I figured anyone who reads the rules knows that they can't post things such as 'Lol' or any unrelated, spam-like post in a thread, and there's always the report button (Which I'm guilty of hardly to never using, which I plan on changing).

Then, wouldn't that mean that nobody loves me? Nobody loves meeeee!!

^HA! Only nerds don't get enough likes, obviously you're not as cool as i am. I've had some of my statuses on facebook get like 15 likes. Needless to say, i'm obviously the shit. @Fevered Dream, eh, it's really not that big of a deal. I mean a while back i mentioned a like button too. It was back before we got the new forum skin(when the forum was using that default skin), i put it in the section about changes to the forum and it got overlooked too. EDIT: Wait didn't you see what vixx responded to you with? Quote: This section is for ideas about the site, not the forum, so unfortunately this isn't relevant here That's why it got overlooked.

^Actually i was just mentioning to Fevered Dream how my comment about a like button got overlooked when i posted it the section about changes to the forum a while back. It really wasn't a big deal.

I would like to have that feature. A Like and a dislike button.
