Okay, here's some of my casting ideas:

Henry: Keanu (b/c of Constantine)

Frank: Lance Henriksen (Millenium rules)

Richard: Kiefer Sutherland. He's the right age now, and his character in Stand By Me is like a teen version of Richard.

Andrew: Meat Loaf. He's one hell of an actor, and can play demented very well.

Walter: Robert Downey Jr, or maybe Brad Dourif (yes, the voice of Chucky).

Jasper: Andy Serkis, who did motion capture/voice for Gollum in LOTR.

My Casting Ideas:

Henry: Garrett Hedlund
Eileen: Evan Rachel Wood
Walter: I agree with Ryan Gosselin :) He can do that
Frank: I agree with the dumbledore guy playing him :)
Cynthia: Barbara Mori or Nikki Reed

Sake wrote:I think Silent Hill 4 would really work as a movie adaptation. In fact, I think it's the most fitting to have a movie made of, followed by Silent Hill 2 as a close second. Both have great stories.
couldn't agree more if they follow the plot mostly and don't butcher it up to make it pretty for hollywood

Anybody seen the movie Re-cycle. Its a foreign film in which they use music from the Silent Hill 4 Intro. I saw it on netflix a few days ago. Its a really good movie.
Silent Hill4 Intro- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfnTrAxTFfk
They use the sounds in the film at 0:37 - 0:48, 1:10 - 1:13, and 1:20 - 1:24. Its probably what got me into that movie. Supposebly the produces played The Room, and it ended going good with the film.

Ctrl+F and type in Silent Hill and you can read about it.

I'd like it to be a film if it had the right cast, budget, writers, soundtrack .. etc

It's a little bit like the Stephen King story 1408. That got made into a film and wasn't bad IMO.

I wish they'd just make SH movies actually based on the games already. I came to like the SH movie after awhile- it grew on me. But when I first saw it I was so annoyed how they turned the Order into these pathetic witch burning Christian people. And of course made Harry a woman... anyway, you know who'd make a good Walter? Triple H, the wrestler.

There's only one man who could play Walter Sullivan: Kurt Cobain. :P Too bad he's dead... and, even if he wasn't, he'd probably refuse.

All joking aside, I'd much rather see a redone game of SH4 than a movie. Tighten the controls, go further with the novel concepts, make the second half more interesting (like, say, Eileen learning that Henry's been watching her in her bedroom?), do more with the apartment and its hauntings, etc.

The story's perfectly fine: it's the game that needed work.

>There's only one man who could play Walter Sullivan: Kurt Cobain.

You betcha, shame that he's dead.

On a side note, if the movie had the same soundtrack as the game, same story as the game and the same characters it would be fuckin' cool, but then, what if they put Rose on that movie too? Or even worse, that girl who did Alessa... Goddammit I'd kill the fukin' director.

They need to learn to make a Silent Hill movie with everything that the game had, DON'T change anything. Unless if it's an original story, which wasn't as we can see with the first movie.

It certainly helps when Walter flat-out looks like Cobain. Hell, I use the names interchangeably, sometimes. :P Just like how Cybil is Cameron Diaz and Angela is Courtney Cox. It adds that little extra something, like you're in a high-end horror movie ("Wow, Hollywood's actually doing horror right?! Sweet!").

As another "truth be told," I'd also rather another SH movie just do an original storyline. Personally, I don't think any of the SH game stories are well-suited to the silver screen, especially since many of them rely on long stretches of detail-packed atmospheric hallways. Even the revelation of SH2 would've been nowhere near as powerful if I hadn't been mucking around the town for all those hours.

In a theater, that would translate as "boring."

Oh, and it'd have to be an indie film. There's no way that Hollywood's blockbuster mentality can gel with SH's need to be morally ambiguous and have a slow pace with lots of "meaningful silences."

I still say Robert Downey Jr for Walter and Kiefer Sutherland for Richard, but that's just me.

I like the idea of Robert Downey as Walter, good call.

Something about Walter has always reminded me of Tim Robbins, am I the only one? If they used him it could be like an ode to Jacobs Ladder, I've read multiple times its a big influence on team silent.

(Woohoo, first post!)

Damn, I haven't seen Tim Robbins since War of the Worlds. He could pull off the insanity, but he might have to lose a little weight.

I always thought that Jared Leto would make a good Henry, there's a picture of him I found on google that looks just like him, he has the same hair and look. either him or Ian Somerhalder from Pulse. Thats just me though.

I can't figure out how to get the pictures up here though, rats.

^ Get the images URL and then go to full editor, highlight the url and press image. Damn. 2 year bump... I like Johnny Depp as Walter, Ashton Kutcher as Henry, (he could give Henry a little life!) and maybe Avril Lavinge or Katy Perry as Eileen, (a stretch in both directions, but I can see it working, look at some pics of Katy when she was younger with straight hair,)

There, I got the pics up. Yay!!! Thank you VenusDoom for helping me out!! A few "What the hells" and I finally go them up there. The more I look at the pictures the more I like my choice. I've decided no for Ian Somerhalder, unless he looked exactly like he did in Pulse, but even then I don't know. Yeah, I'm going with my original choice of Jared Leto.

No problemo, ^-^ Hmmm, chins a bit off but I thinhk he could pull it off, (none of the SH main chars ever have long chins...)

Jared Leto would be a pretty awesome choice for Henry, I've gotta say. Nice call.

Huh, really? Jeez I never noticed before, but now that you've called it to my attention, none of them do. Weird, why is that do you suppose?

And thank you Tillerman, I thought it was a good choice too :D. I could just see him running around going. "What the Hell? What the Hell is this? What the Hell is that? What the Hell is this place? Eileen, what the Hell?!"

Hahahaha! Henry makes me laugh every time he says that, then I have to say it, "Henry, What the Hell?" XD

With a few changes/adaptations this could be an awesome movie. Some things would have to be omitted like the constant going thru holes: maybe make it 3 or 4 times only through the movie.

The ghosts would be SUPER scary to me. If they did it right this would be a classic horror movie! I would love an independent to get a hold of it but with a huge budget for lots of effects. Sh4 would benefit from that even more so than the one already produced and in production now. Too bad that doesnt really exist though!

Ill have to vote yes for Jared Leto and a negatory for the Katy Perry. My opinion though, I dont care for her too much.
And KiramidHead these are great suggestions:
Richard: Kiefer Sutherland. He's the right age now, and his character in Stand By Me is like a teen version of Richard.
Andrew: Meat Loaf. He's one hell of an actor, and can play demented very well.
