H.R. Giger painting influence in SH4.
i was in a local bookstore the other day when i stumbled across an H.R. Giger book, and noticed this painting.
http://verotika.org/giger/Landscape_XVIII.jpg
looks extremely similar to the baby haunting in the apartment to me.

Very good point! I'm a long-time Giger fan, so I can't believe I didn't pick up on it before. It is indeed very similar, and Giger does a lot of work with deformed baby-like faces such as those in it.
Well done.
Well done.

nice catch on the similarity
i remember reading in a developer interview a while back about the inspirations for the hauntings (most of them being obvious) and i remember them discussing how the baby haunting was supposed to be a link back to the image of the apartment as a "mother", but the similarities of the image are uncanny.

haha.
i've never really looked at gigers work before, but i saw he had a book and turned right to that page.
there was another painting that was almost the same, another landscape painting but i don't remember the number on it.
i think the one i linked was XVIII, but i remember seeing another extremely similar one.

I'm a fan of Giger as well, and I really never even gave the baby wall a second thought, not in the game, and not on my calendar which has a picture of it in it. (You'd think that would've made me think, looking at it for a whole month.)
Excellent observation!
See, that's what Silent Hill's been missing: scantily clad bitches. Silent Hill 5 will feature an all-female cast of hyper-sexualized lifeguards and camp counselors stranded at Toluca lake. One of the puzzles will require that the player swap the characters' bathing suits, and you will be able to pursue a lesbian love story side-plot on Next Fear.
