What would happen if Henry didn't bother doing anything?
I was thinking about Silent Hill 4 last night while trying to make some Silent Hill Style terrain for heroscape. I got to thinking. What if Henry did not do anyhting about the weird events of his apartment? That is what if he didn't crawl down the hole in the wall? would the room just slowly kill him? Also why not just use to metal pipe and break the window or the chains holding the door. (It is only wood after all). Just a thought and curious what everyone else thought.

I was always curious as to why he didn't break the window.
Other than that, if he didn't do something he would have starved to death. All he had was a bottle of wine and some chocolate milk.
Wasn't he locked in there for five days before the hole even appeared in his bathroom?
That's kind of a long time to go without food.

You are right he was there for five days before the hole appeared, but I didn't know he was without food in that time. I started to think of it like that movie 1408, ya know? Like if Henry just flipped out and broke a window and crawled outside or after he got the gun just started shooting off rounds. Would someone her? If they did I am SURE that someone would call the police. Also why couldn't he talk to Eileen through the lille hole in the wall?
I think... seeing as its pivotal to the ritual for Henry to be the "Witness" or "Receiver of Wisdom", something would happen to force him out of the apartment. Kind of like the hauntings. You notice that Henry went at first of his own free will and there were no hauntings?
I think after going through that hole and seeing like 3 or 4 people die, you would probably say, "Alright, fuck that hole, I'm just going to hang out in my room, drink some chocolate milk and wait for it all to blow over."
So that is probably part of why the hauntings become more aggressive, to encourage Henry to leave and not seek shelter in the room-- he has a job to do-- go out and watch Walter mess people up.
As for the starving to death/noise... check the windows and the refrigerator and Henry gives commentaries that basically say that he hasn't felt hungry or the need to use the toilet in 5 days-- he says his body is "frozen". As for the windows, the glass is suddenly like titanium or something, I'm sure he's tried to break them but no dice. As for the noise, Eileen is the only one who even remotely hears it, probably because she's just that sensitive (be it to other people, her 'sympathetic nature' or some other reason).
I don't think Eileen hears it actually, but she does sense that something's wrong far before any other neighbor.

He would have died most likely-- either from the hauntings or Walter just finally coming in like, "What the shit, Henry, I thought we had something here. Thought we were doin' this. What are you doing man, get your ass out there." and Henry would be like, "NO, YOU SUCK! I DON'T WANNA PLAY ANYMORE!" and Walter would probably just shoot him and be done with it.
There was absolutely no way for him to venture out and Walter probably wouldn't have been able to make the kills because Henry had to be there to witness it. I'm sure he might be able to work something out with little memos or newspaper clippings, but time was probably an issue or something. If not, he could have probably waited months for Henry to wander back into the hole and watch people die.
The whole point of Henry being there is to be Walter's "witness" and to carry on the full knowledge of the 20 sacraments before him. So Walter's going to keep him around and force him in some way to watch #16-20 be sacrificed.

Indeed. It's possible that Walter won't kill them unless he knows Henry will be able to witness it. And if Henry dies without receiving wisdom, he might not count as the 21 Sacraments. Either way, Henry staying in his apartment could halt the entire ritual.

Well about starving to death or breaking the windows, Henry is basically in a different dimension at the moment, even though example: you can look out the window and see Richard but he says that he doesn't see anything. Plus to complete the Sacraments Eileen has to die before Henry, (When a game over happens it shows the ceiling of the apartment so I don't think he's technically 'dead') Plus like others have said he has to become the Receiver of Wisdom before hand ^^ (Oh well reading again its been mentioned a lot)
I heard somewhere that the reason Walter chases after them is to make them feel like they HAVE to move on to the next area
Well Henry was in there 5 days before so maybe he did try breaking the windows and doors and we didn't get to see it XD
Can't you also press a button on the PS2 version and he'll knock his fists on the windows?

Most people say Henry's a pervert because of looking through the peephole to Eileen's room, but here's the thing: Your not required to do that, it's the players choice.
So whose the pervert now :P?
((Apparently you can OD on Green Tea...And it's painful.))

I like to imagine he just likes to be a dick to them and mess with them. I don't know if it's poor AI programming or intentional, but he doesn't go after Eileen (and that would be easy-- Henry leaves her alone a lot, she's injured, etc. It would be easier to just pick her off right then and there) which is the next sacrament needed. He does harass Henry, however, which makes less sense because he needs Henry alive until the end... so he probably is just pushing them to go find more information before the end of the ritual.carneeval wrote: I heard somewhere that the reason Walter chases after them is to make them feel like they HAVE to move on to the next area

Plus, with that laugh, you know he's just doing it for shits and giggles.
And yes, there is a button on all versions where he can knock his fists on the windows, but nothing ever happens.

Ya my brother says he sounds like a pirate when he laughs like that XD (At my house it has become official to him that Walter is indeed a pirate)
I kind of think Walter always intended to have Eileen go into the spinny death trap because of the picture you can find after she leaves, because according to my sis its part of his mother (Maybe he was going to drag her to it after beating her up but Little Walter intervened all of it) But also, could it be he has such a blood lust he really had to go after the two? Sounds stupid but some psychotic serial killers have an addiction to inflicting pain and killing (Even if it was 'all for his mother') Which kind of just brings it back to him just getting a laugh out of it XD

Oh right, there was that picture of Eileen in the kid's sketchbook. So yeah he probably did intend her to die that way. But that just makes things a lot more confusing-- why would he even try to beat her to death in 303 if she was intended to die in the armillary sphere? He probably was going to drag her into it, though.
Sucks to be Eileen.

I don't think the armillary sphere was his initial plan. It seems more like a backup thing since she survived and ran around with Henry for half the game. Just because it's in a sketch book doesn't mean it's a plan.
It wasn't a picture of Eileen, I don't think. It was a picture of a woman torn apart. I can't recall if, when Henry examined it, it said "Eileen" or something close to it--but still...

I'm not dead yet, dammit.
Henry can't break the windows. Henry can't fire off rounds and have people hear them. This is mad evident when he shouts to Mr. Sunderland and Eileen through the door. They don't here him.
It's again shown by the chipped away wall that leads to Elieen's room. In the words of a great man:

Well, Walter would probably come and kill him... And he couldnt break out because his apartment had become a sub-logical world thus attempting to break out by breaking the windows/door with the lead pipe would be futile...
Note to twilight fans: Guys that sparkle in real life, arent that into girls...
I'm guessing Henry would eventually either go insane, or be killed by one of the ghosts. In the opening gameplay when you play as he gets "killed" by a ghost. Then we find him again at the end where he's I always get confused what happened there. Henry said that he was trapped in his apartment for a few days before the hole appeared I think, right?

The insane part though is that for the majority of the game being in your room, you can see what's going on outside and through the peep hole in the door and in the wall etc, but when youJimmy The Obscure wrote:NOTHING will happen if he didn't get in that hole. I just had to point that one out, since I hella remembered it, but not word for word. So I dug up that script st-MK did.
