My tip is that don't forget that you can only hold so much items at once. Never bring unneccessary stuffs unless you like multiple homecoming.

What's the point in playing any Silent Hill game without being scared, kinda defeats the object a little.

I love these games, and being scared is what I love about them, although I love the graphics, it wouldn't matter if they were crap as long as it was scary.

Alone in the dark 4: The New Nightmare was great too. Resident Evil games became predictable.

i dont necessarily feel you should play alone, as i played it first time with 2 easily scared freinds, and it made it s much scarier, but if your freinds have any slight bravery, then play alone.!
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal labotomy.

Use a melee weapon until ABSOLUTELY necessary. That's kind of a no-brainer, but you'd be surprised how many of my buddies use up all their ammo on the first few worlds.
Best Time To Play: In the dark, alone, during a sleepless night when you're strung-out of coffee. You'll be hearing all sorts of weird noises.
You will suffer... as we suffer.

Yeah playing with an animal in the room is definitely scary. I had my dog in the room and he tends to bark for no reason (creepy i know) so it'll be a part where I'm completely zoned into the game and he'll bark LOUD AS HELL and I'll jump halfway outta my room and yell "%$#!" then I'll laugh. That damn dog.

Don't have an animal in your room unless you'd like the biggest scare of your life besides Walter running at you outta nowhere with a chainsaw in the Forest. haha. THAT was scary.

I suggest turning the lights off and trying not to cry yourself to sleep.

"Turn on your lights....and they'll see you. Make a sound...and they'll hear you..."

XD!!!

I first plunged into playing Silent Hill 4 and couldn't get used to the controls. I found it hard to fight and almost DIED in the subway world whilst fighting those damn dogs for the first time with a steel pipe.

I feel so stupid.

Why can't they make beating the monsters up more easier or something ;_; *ish that dumb*

But anyways, the best way to play Silent Hill.........

When you are ALONE at home in the dark. FWHAHAHAH Mommy won't be there to saveee you when you are alone!!!

Oh and remember to light up a candle before bedtime......as long as the flame of the holy candle burns.......'they' will be kept at bay......

Ummm yea...lol...I didn't even need to be told to take breaks, I religiously took a break after every two worlds. Matter of fact I would stop playing the game for the day after two worlds. This game seriously made my nerves bad. Unlike the other SH games this one had ghosts that didn't die, so you had to keep moving. I was so used to entering a room, killing shit, then chillaxin for a min and situate myself.

I do turn the lights off for effect, but I rarely play alone. I may be a panzy when it comes to these kinda games, but I don't care I enjoy the thrill.

Oh and to correct myself I believe that the common monsters in SH2 didn't die if you were playing on hard mode, so I would imagine that would have to be pretty intense just like the ghosts.
