I have been hooked on the Evil Dead trilogy lately for some reason and was looking at pics online, and found a picture of Ash fighting a deadite with an axe and it reminded me of a picture of Henry in a similar pose with an axe. I know they're not exactly the same, but I figured I'd throw it out there.

I'd say it's probably just unintentional.
If they were going to pay homage to that scene, they would have likely made it a bit more obvious.
I like how you think, though! There isn't enough Evil Dead in all forms of media.

Well they are both fighting monsters/hauntings in an enclosed enviroment (Evil Dead 2). . .
But yeah, probably unintentional.

How else would you wield an axe?

Which, I assume, means that any character ever wielding an ax is referencing The Shining if it isn't referencing Evil Dead.

they do look similar. just ash's face looks more ready to kick deadite ass than henry brandishing the most emotion we see out of him through the entire game. l call character break!

Re: SH4: Evil Dead Reference?
I really just think it's unintentional. I mean...there's lots of movies with people wielding various weapons, but it doesn't mean that they are all linked. Also, I think Henry and that guy (I'm sorry, I've never watched Evil Dead) do not even share similar features, emotions, and etc.

The funny thing is I think The Shining ax scene was stolen from some old black & white silent movie. It's hard to be original when everything has already been done. lolalone in the town wrote:
