To be honest I'm tired of this game

Henry's locked in his apartment and can't get out. Bless.

The babysitting half of the game is made more bearable by the fact that you can leave her behind. You just have to choose a spot you'll be going back by (or can return to before proceeding out of that world to the next) and then outrun her to leave that area- but you'll want to choose an area without enemies. Best places to leave her include: a room in the water prison with the hole in it (when you jump down she won't follow), the central area in forest world where the orphanage was, the elevator in building world or the room with a few doors that lead to the pet shop etc. and with the hole in it...
This just lets you get stuff done in each area without her tagging along the whole time, and then of course you have to go back for her.

Just in case you do want to finish again someday.

I feel the same, I find it exhausting. I don't think it's necessarily the game's fault though, it's just not what I find enjoyable. I'm nearing the end and am desparate to have it finished, unlike SH2 and SH:SM where I wanted them to continue for longer.

My main gripes are the common ones;

Immortal ghosts - I don't find them scary, just really irritating, I don't like ghosts as enemies in any game though, unless it's just fleeting appearances to generate atmosphere. If I kill an enemy I want to move on, not have it get back up and follow me around like a bad smell.

Re-use of levels - I'm not a fan of backtracking at the best of times, so having to replay entire levels really irks me. I find it a slog to be honest, I do a level a day, save and exit. It does not make me want to stay up until the early hours of the morning to get "just a little bit further".

The Hauntings - if I use a holy candle to get rid of a stupid man stuck in the wall I don't expect him to be back after two apartment returns, i'm not made of candles!

The enemies - most look like they've escaped from a zoo. Monkeys, bats, leopard-dogs... where are the cool psychological manifestations? The hospital monster was cool, until it started burping, just wtf?

I guess it's the emphasis on combat, when compared to the other games where you can choose run away, that I don't like. To me it feels more like a bad resident evil clone than a silent hill game
I actually quite liked the novelty of the 1st person room for the first half of the game, and i don't mind the challenge of Eileen following me around as I like her character, but that's it.
I've come to emphasise with Henry, I feel trapped by the game. I'm determined to finish it but I really just want out.
Here in the darkness I know myself...

Like many games with escorting elements, The Room seems to have some poor partner AI which makes babysitting Eileen a pain in the rear. Not to mention that your ending is hugely dependent on how effectively you protect her. Though there is a trick you can employ shortly before the final boss where you can fully heal Eileen therefore negating any damage she accumulated throughout the journey. Because of this you can effectively stick her in some random room and go and do your thing while she sits pretty (and maybe gets bludgeoned repeatedly by monsters, but who cares cuz candles! Amirite?)

Other than that, I would implore any player to play through the entire game if even just for the story. One really has to be diligent in taking in all the notes and details in the game to truly apprciate the story and I find it to be the best in the series after SH2. It's just so bizarre and unlike anything I've seen.
Bitch, don't kill my vibe.

I totally agree with you. I think it's worth it to play it at least once all the way through.

SH4 is not my favorite game in the series, but it is definitively not my least favorite ether (I'm looking at you, Origins lol). Despite it's flaws, it's still a interesting take on the SH universe and, for me anyway, it had some genuine creepy moments.

However, It's one of the few SH games that I have a hard time playing through more than once. One of the things I love about SH is being able to replay the games multiple times and and always discover something new. I have tried to with SH4, but because the game can be very irritating to navigate through (the combat, re-use of levels, Eileen, etc.), I think I have only completed the game twice all the way through. Which for me, is the worst thing about SH4.
