One of my favorite Silent Hill scenes

Post by J. Quinzelle »

This is one of my favorite scenes out of the franchise. Such a small character death amplified by the music. And the exchange, except for the "are you okay?" line, just makes me pity them. I wish I could have used this scene in Silent Hill 302.
"Dance
Dance like butterflies
Shadows appear right before my eyes
Sounds echo the absurd
Hard to explain something that I heard"

It is a very good scene indeed, the music does a lot. Although I must admit that the way the lyrics "close your eyes" fits so perfectly with Cynthia's eyes closing is almost too literal for a SH game.

It's a really beautiful scene. The music totally makes it too.

It does a good job of setting the reality of the situation after so much weird surrealism.

Agreed. She's a very down-to-earth character, serving as the gateway to reality for the player. The way she says "Well, if it's not a dream - what is it?" is a perfect example of how Cynthia takes you of the game, back into the real world by assuring you that it's just a dream - but rather than being a distraction, it enriches the experience.

Cynthia is a quite underrated character.
