I have played through SH4 about 3 times and i still dont really get what walter was doing with the 21 sacrament thingy.

-What was he doing? He was trying to bring the room to life? I don't get it.

-What was it that the ritual was supposed to do had he done it on a person and not a room?

-What would have happened if the ritual was complete when he used it on the room instead?

He was trying to summon his mother, so he thought. That was really a red herring for the poor kid, because what he was really doing was summoning God (Mother, as they call her), as the Order intended. He was their dupe.

He closely associates the Room with his Mother, very closely, but he isn't trying to bring the room to life.

uhh...if walter's ritual wasnt bringing THE ROOM to life as the assumed form of the "holy mother" god, then why did the room turn into another realm and trap henry inside then?

The Room that we see isn't the real Room 302. It's in an alternate reality, one of Walter's own creation.

Same basic concept as the rest of the series, really.

Keep in mind that Walter grew to believe that the room was his mother. So he does everything to give life to his mother, but that's only because the cult made him believe that the ritual would do that.

Yes. More specifically, he was one of the heads of The Order (its hierarchy was split into different sects, Stone was the head of the Valtiel sect). It was Stone who took the child Walter and began to indoctrinate him with the 21 Sacraments. The Sacraments would be carried out by Walter, and upon their successful completion, God would be born again. Essentially, what Stone is doing is creating an avatar for Valtiel, someone to do his earthly works, more or less, and this avatar is Walter Sullivan. He is very successful, and the brilliant irony of the situation is that Stone himself is the first of the 21 Sacraments.

I wonder how he felt about that.

He wore a red miter, it very vaguely resembled PH's helmet.

I wonder if he felt bad about being 01121, or if it gave him that sort of orgasmic joy that crazy religious nuts sometimes feel when they do something self-destructive in the name of their god?

In retrospect, I think you'd have to be insane to be a follower of the Ordo as I call it. But, I dont care if you like the idea of being a "sacrafice" or not, dying sucks ass I'll bet. But, even if he did like the idea of being a martyer, floating around like an idiot for eternity sucks ass. Unless that reality died along with Sullivan. Damn, immortality blows.

I'm pretty sure he didn't like being shot in the head. That must've pissed him off some. Although I think the ritual Stone had in mind was severely different and slightly more "civilized" than Walter's murderspree. That part must have been a bite in the ass for him.. but he was already dead by then, so.
I'm not dead yet, dammit.
