Very dissapointed with U.K DVD.

Post by Brem »

Wondering if anyone else might feel the same. I just got the U.K DVD today, and wow is it a dissapointment. The Theatrical Trailer is high pitched, just like the others and before getting into the DVD you go through several scenes from the movie, which pretty much spoils it in my opinion! And, it's not even skipable! And the disc is bland in my opinion. I'm glad I bought the Canadian version. A great box art, great disc art and no unskipable things. Only problem is the fact is pauses for a second late in the movie but I can put up with that compared to how long it takes to get onto the menu of the PAL DVD. Which is a terrible menu, if you ask me. I love the Canadian menu alot more.

Anyone else feel the same way?

I actually prefered it to the US edition. It felt more polished overall, in terms of sound and picture.

The theatrical trailer was hillarious admittdly, the actors sounded like they were inhaling helium.

Oh, don't get me wrong the movie part is fine! I couldn't say for certain if I felt it was any better or any worse, although the sound is good for me since I had to change it on the Canadian DVD. It's just the entire getting into the DVD and such before hand and as I said the menu doesn't look as great to me. Other than that, the actual movie is fine. I know I'm moaning a bit too much, but I felt the presentation for menus and as I said the opening before the menus could have been alot better. I like to get into it quick, but it feels like it takes forever.

My problem is finding a good price and cover.

WHSmith has the best price at £13.99

BUT

HMV has the better cover, the foggy sign cover, at £14.97.

Or I could just wait until HMV have a sale and get the good cover for like £9.99 probably.

Basically I liked the film, but not enough to spend a lot of money on it.

I was happy with mine. Yeah I admit I was a tad annoyed that I couldn't skip them scenes before the menu came up but you know shit happens.

I got the HMV one, so chuffed with my coverart. No problems with the DVD apart from the helium enhanced trailer. Thought it was amusing actually.

Anybody picked up the Virgin Megastores edition? Apparantly it comes in a spangly tin case (much like the Resident Evil 4 one) and a bonus DVD about The Omen remake. I would go and buy it but I'm not paying for the same DVD twice in two days :P

I bought the 4 art cards off eBay for £3 inc P&P. Should arrive tomorrow, I'll take a couple of pictures and stick them on here.

I saw the Virgin Megastore tin case edition on eBay for £10.

Currently I'm waiting for screenselect to send me my Silent Hill rental so that I can watch it again and really decide if I want to buy it or not.

Aww......The U.K DVD version can't be as bad as the upcoming SINGAPORE version in which I bet, the gay censorship board will do much more editing then making the actresses sound like they're high on helium. *tries to picture Laurie/Cybil with a squeaky voice O_O *

It's bad enough that the movie theatre version has HEAPS of cut scenes. HEAPS of em. =_='''''

I can't imagine what the Singapore version would be like. While its true that Singapore gets their DVD copies from the U.S or so, they will undergo through ANOTHER round of LOCAL editing to make the content.......'suitable' =.=''' *twitch*

So....don't be too dissapointed ne? ^^;

Oh man.

I can get Silent Hill DVD for like £3 on eBay, but it's the cheesy rubbish cover.

Nobody is selling the cool HMV exclusive cover with the fog and the sign.
