The worst part of Silent Hill 2 (Spoilers)

Post by Disciple of Claudia »

You finally get to the Pyramid Heads, you've been through hell and back, you run like hell all over the room shooting them and dodging them. All the sudden they turn around, go to the center of the room and impale themselves. I almost threw the controller into the tv screen!!!! I cannot believe that I didn't get to actually kill them!!!! Talk about anti fucking climatic!!!! Needless to say I deeply enjoyed kill the final boss.[/spoiler]

Hehe, I enjoyed the Pyramid Heads battle. I always figured the 'synchronized impaling' was more symbolic than anything.
In my opinion the worst part of Silent Hill 2 (or any of the SH games for that matter) is that they are too damn short! Another major area or two would have made me a happy camper.

I felt it was long enough. If I'm going to go through that much aggravation against it I want the satisfaction of watching the light in its' eyes to fade into oblivion. Hence them depriving me of that pisses me off.

The Pyramid Heads killed themselves because their job was finished. Their job was actually finished before they fought James, but if they just killed themselves then, it would be way too anticlimactic.

I know what you mean.
I use the Great Knife, atleast I get to enjoy inflicting severe pain with their own weapon.

Another reason to hate PH. He wasn't real and the great knife sucked.

I had no problem with that part of the game. I do believe there should be a spoiler alert somewhere around here lol. I really dont think there was a "worst" part of that game.

No way, the only time the Great Knife is used is during that fight.
It works like a charm, takes less than a minute and it neats running ariound for a half hour shooting.

Half hour?? Sounds like you don't use firearms much and/or conserve ammo very well

In my opinion, the worst part of SH2 was the boss after the PHs. It seemed tacked on.

It's a figure of speech. Why are you going at this, and bringing up things you have no idea about, like tha ammo I use.
Who cares, I like the Great Knife during that fight and you don't. Leave it at that.

You mean Maria? the entire reason the game happened?

How can the ultimate resolve be tacked on? The game happened just for that one scene.

I think the fight seemed tacked on, not the fact that you had to confront her/it.

I don't know what ou mean Claudia...

Silent Hill isn't built up as Super Mario. Pyramid Head is unbeatable, you cannot kill him or stop him. Only the town or Valtiel can stop him, which they do at the end.

If your going to play Silent Hill you must forget every thoughts of gameplay coming first. Silent Hill is about playing a horrorsaga where the horror is more deep because of you playing the main character.
There is a reason for the two PH:s to do what they did. The main battle is Mary...

Strange, Jim, 'cuz that's been the only final battle I enjoyed.

Yeah, I loved that... together with the music, that battle makes my heart pump 500 bullets a sec.

Mary wasn't tacked on. She fit the story. After all she has a nice rack

The final battle was absolutely artistic in execution. The imagery of Mary in demon form is perhaps the most disturbing final battle sequence I've ever seen or played through. As she chased me, my heart beat rapidly non-stop - I just wanted her dead and that's all I thought about. And yes, the music...perfect!

Once I finished with the fight, it still left a lasting impression on me...creepy.

Anyone ever notice that bed right in the middle of the room during the final battle. Always thought it was a neat addition. Perhaps it implied something sexual? Or a deathbed? Any thoughts?
